We just returned from the vet and it turns out that Bella has LP in both of her knees. According to the new vet that we visited, it was a genetic condition caused by too shallow of a grove for her knee cap. She has grade 1 in her right hind leg and grade 2 in her left hind leg. I am shocked by this considering that she was checked when she was younger and she had no signs of problems and she has never exhibited any problems.

I am very sad that she has LP, but I am slightly relived that it has not progressed into anything more severe. And the vet said that most of his patients that have had this condition have had their symptoms controlled without the use of surgery.
I am very sad too that Bella has LP. It is a Blessing though that you found this out now rather than later, to control the special care she needs. She is in loving arms & care.;) It is encouraging to hear that most of his patients have had their symptoms controlled. Take care Bella! I'm glad that you were able to get it diagnosed early and can take control of it now. Hot Rod is recuperatiing from surgery right now for a grade 3 lp. His condition worsened very quickly and we did not suspect anything like lp. He was at a grade 1 at his annual checkup. His ligament was on the side of his knee and the surgeon deepened the groove. He's in week 3 of recovery and each day he is improving. :) Good luck with Bella, we will keep her in our thoughts and prayers that she take to the alternative therapy.

Thank you so much for your prayers & support. :) You are absolutely right that it is a blessing that we were able to get her diagnosed before her condition progressed. I have been searching diligently since I returned from the vet for vitamin supplements, stairs, new food, etc. I just have to make sure my precious baby is comfortable.

Thank you so much for your prayers :). After I got over the shock of her diagnosis, I realized that it is a huge blessing that she was diagnosed early. I am doing everything in my power to make sure that we can control her condition with alternative methods. And the really good part is that I will be gradating from college in two months and I will have the entire summer to make sure that she is progressing.
I am so glad that your little Hot Rod is having a successful recovery! I pray that he has a full recovery and is out running and playing again soon :)

Ah another LP baby :( So many of our babies are being diagnosed with this. It is good it was caught early for sure! Oliver was diagnosed with stage one in is left hind leg while in rescue.. the vet said that he sees no reason to worry at this stage and to just watch it.

What supplements are safe to give??? I have thought about this also.. anything to slow the progression!

Hope Bella is feeling better very soon and that her LP can be managed! She is such a sweetheart.

Thank you so much for you well wishes for my baby. :) She is on some meds right now and she appears to be improving. I've had some YT members recommend Cosaquin as a suppliment to help her joints as well as the vitamin Synovia granuals.
And I am so glad that your little Oliver is doing well. :)

I just saw this post. Many prayers and hugs for Bella are being sent. I am sure you have been a nervous wreck. From what I hear, if caught early it can be well controlled without surgery. :big_hug:
