National Pet ID Week I found out today it's National Pet ID Week, and that has prompted me into (finally) getting a real ID tag for Lola. I know it's important to have an ID tag for her since I do live in a city and she is quite unreliable to come back when I call her, but where do I put it? Like most yorkies she never wears a collar, only a harness when we go for walks, etc. Could anyone recommend a harness that has a good spot for putting an ID tag? The ones she wears have a ring on the back for the leash, where I suppose I could put a tag, but it just seems strange to have it there. Do you have an ID tag for your furbabies? Do they wear it all the time? I'm just curious to hear how other yorkie owners deal with this. |
Jackson wears a collar almost all the time with his tags/info on it. He walks in a harness but I leave the collar on him as well! :) I usually take the collar off at night-time though! We don't have a fence and even though he's reliable to come when called.... I'd prefer to be safe rather than sorry! So the collar always stays on! |
Same here. Mine wear collars with their ID all day, but walk on a harness. We also take the collars off at night. Putting them on is part of our morning ritual. We call them "necklaces". :p Wake up, put on your necklace, go outside, come in eat breakfast, life is good. lol |

My guys wear collars w/ IDs at all times, plus they're microchipped. For walking, we use harnesses (but leave collars on). |
Ellie wears a collar with tags occasionally but not usually. I just don't like to put them on tight and when they are loose she gets her nails stuck on them. She wears a harness for walking and sometimes I put her tage on the front metal circle but again usually not. I really should try harder I suppose. |
collars when my boys are at home alone, I ALWAYS remove the collar, I once knew someone whos dog choked to death after the collar became entangled in a crocheted blanket....:( |
Im in two minds what to do about this also. Tia wears I.D tags on her harness which she only wears when out walking.I've tried leaving a collar on her in the house before but thank god I was there she got her collar stuck in her mouth. It is a worry having her with no I.D on around the house especially with the kids in and out of the back gate although shes micro chipped I'd prefer someone rang me immediately if she was found and not wait to take her to a vet ect.So someone invent a safety collar to keep our babies safe. |

Jackson just got microchipped today :) |
I got "collar tags" for mine and you can fit them on a harness. Mine little ones don't wear collars either and when they go outside they have their harness on. They actually lay flat on the webbing of the harness. I absolutely love these. All my dogs have them. Here's the link if anyone wants to look. Pet tags, dog tags, pet id tags, dog id tags, pet identification tags, cat id tags. |
