Sleeping in? How do you get your babies to go back to sleep when they try and wake you up too early? Mya went through like a 2 week phase of sleeping SO late, all i had to say was "uh uh go lay down and go back to sleep" and she would. Now it's 7am on the dot! no matter what! |
You get to sleep til 7? It must be nice! LOL! Boomer is good for 8 hours in his kennel...if we go to bed at 9:30 he's up at 5:30...we go to bed at 10 and he's up at 6. He's on a mission though...as soon as I open the kennel door he heads to the potty pad...poor little guy can't even wait for me to get the screen door open! But, I think getting a full 8 hours sleep with a 5 month old puppy is pretty good so I'm not complaining! Have you tried laying her down with you after she wakes up? |
ignore, ignore, ignore. i know its hard but it does work. mine sleeps until i get up no matter what time that may be. i have her in bed with me something 12 hours on weekends of if i'm sick. she's 3 years old now. when she was a baby she was crated. she would wake up anywhere from 5-7 to potty. i would turn on a night light, nothing to bright. take her out to potty, then bring her right back in and put her back in teh crate. no talking besides the go potty command. no excitement besides a good girl. no lights, no nothing to wake her up more then she needs to be to go potty. once back in the crate i would turn the lights back off and go back to sleep. if she would whine i'd tell her that's enough, go to sleep and then ignore her. |
Please ignore this thread hyjack for a moment... Kellie...I'm sending Boomer to you...he's too cute for me to discipline but, you've done such a wonderful job on your baby, maybe you can do it for me! :p O.k...hyjack over...please continue. :) |
Mine sleep until I wake up. I noticed it helps a lot to use the black-out shade so the room is kept very dark. No eye contact and if I roll over and they think it's wake up time, I shake the can of coins on my night table. I hope that doesn't sound mean, but I raised three kids, and now I need to sleep in when I don't have to get up for work. |

welp! this morning I got lucky and she tried to sleep in! but unfortunately she has messed up my internal clock and I was up at 730!!! and couldnt go back to sleep haha so i had to wake her! sigh!!! |
i ignore bailee too.if she senses im awak its all over but i stay real still and dont open my eyes she will give up..also when she tries to lick me if she thinks im awake,i just dont move and she gives up for an hour or so |
I have the same problem, when my pom was alive she got me up every few hours due to her medical conditions, now that she has gone to the Rainbow Bridge 2 months ago. I cannot get Pixie to not wake up at 3 am for their feeding. I try and ignore but she keeps it up until I give in. Once they are fed they all go back to sleep. Kellie can I send mmy 3 to you for training too!!!lol |

edit: Do they all sleep in your room at night? is there a way to keep them out of the room in crates so its easier to ignore when they wake up at 3am? at least for a while until they 'get it' |
I'm lucky I don't have the problem. Fancy does not move until I move. |
Lexi's the one that sleeps in! :p when the alarm goes off and we get out of bed she looks up like nooooooooo one more minuteee mom... but sometimes i can get her up by laying back down on my back and telling her "good morning LuLuuuu" in a sweet voice and shell drag herself with her front legs all the way up my body to lay on my chest and give kisses. |
all 3 of my girls wake up at 6am on the dot..i wish i could sleep in til 7..lol |
Mine can and will sleep in FOREVER! |
Ya'll are all lucky!! Addie gets up at 5:30AM! I was lucky last weekend, though, she slept till 7!! Some nights, like last night, she'll wake up around 3/3:30 and she goes straight to her daddy and attacks him! On nights like this I have to get up and bring her in her room because she thinks it's time to play. And it doesn't matter what time she goes to bed... |
Lilly either sleeps 'til I get up or she lays on the end of the bed 'til I get up. She's such a good baby. Some rare mornings, she'll come over and start licking my face trying to get me up but I just put her back under the covers and back to sleep she goes. Sometimes, she'll use the pad she has in the bedroom and other times she makes me get up and come downstairs with her to use her usual pad. |
it does get better with time, i think around 6 months 7 hours was what sophie did. Around 8-9 months old she started to be able to hold 8- hours. Usually we are up around 7:30. I often wake up and look at her, and she looks like she's been waiting forever patiently waiting for me. It is true though, ignoring is hard, but it does work. Also on the weekend, I just try to take her out, feed her, out again and then go back to bed for a few hours if possible. |
Lucas sleeps in his bed in his pen and he usually wakes up around 7 and whines for me to pick him up into bed. Then once he comes up he snuggles right in until pretty much whenever I want to get up. He just wants snuggles :) Ignoring definitly works when he wakes up at 5 wanting to come into bed. I just turn over and he goes right back to sleep. I think he knows it's too early :p |
Whew. I just searched "can't sleep" and found this thread. I am SO glad its not just me. I am totally exhausted. Bella and Skeeter had me up 3 times last night for no apparent reason. The bad thing is I think Skeeter riles Bella up! I have been up since 5am on a Saturday. Killin me! :( I want to put her back in her crate and make her go back to sleep, but she jumps up and down and barks and cries really loud. Jeremy (boyfriend) gets very annoyed b/c then HE wakes up too and tell me to get her out so she'll stop. I know I know I shouldn't be giving in, but it saves me from a grumpy Jeremy!!! I am going to try to talk to Jeremy and tell him I am going to let her cry and simply give her the "go night night" command and then totally ignore her. I can't take this not sleeping on the weeks. I DO value my sleep oh so much! Skeeter is 2 1/2 yrs old and sleeps in a bed next to Jeremy, not in a crate. So when he wakes up he goes to her crate and harasses her or she hears him. One way or another they both get up and drive me NUTS! I feel so bad complaing about my little ones but gosh I am sleepy....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..... |
