I would surmise that she was possibly attempting to convince you the check would arrive and hoping she could pick up the dog leaving you sitting there waiting the rest of your life for a check that was "in the mail".

I immediately sent her another email telling her that I needed to hear from her and that if I didn't hear from her or got the cashiers check in the mail by Wed. that I was going to start advertising him again and it would be first come first serve.

She lives in KY but has a nephew that lives in Montgomery, AL that she is also sending money to to deliver him for her. She said that he is a vet. I haven't heard from him either. So I told her to please let me know if she had either changed her mind or found another puppy. That it didn't matter to me one way or the other.

I was just wondering what would you do. I may even if I get her Cashiers Check just send it back to her anyway and try to find a new home for him. For whatever reason I being strung alone. You would think that she was the one selling the puppy and I were the buyer.

Suggestions? Thanks for listening. Sorry it's so long.

I will keep everyone posted if I hear from her about what I decide to do.

My husband sells beagle puppies. When people call us, we tell them we need to have the deposit right away. We wait one week cause they usually say they are putting it right in the mail. if it doesn't come within about five or six days, we call to see if they forgot. Then if they haven't changed their mind, we tell them we need the deposit within the next five days and if it doesn't come by then we re advertise the pup. If their check comes after that we put it back in the mail to them (if the pup is sold already). Fortunately, we seldom have this problem and we sell dogs all over the United States. In fact, we have a years waiting list for puppies out of our Field Champions so people are usually great about sending the deposit when we let them know we are down to their name on the list.

Legally there is not obligation to her until you have the money. Morally and ethically, I feel you have waited long enough and shpuld feel no guilyt about selling him to someone else. I think she just didn't have the money.

Advertise him now. You've waited to long for this person to bring the money. If the money does arrive, send it back.

What about this: I have been in contact with someone who has a dog that I was very interested in. This person had some things to do out of town and should have returned to her home by the 5th. I have sent her 3 emails since then and she hasn't read them yet. I am worried that something has happened but I don't want to call her and disturb her if something is wrong. What should I do? I would wait until tommorrow and just call...if anything just tell her that you had attempted to contact her because you are interested in her dog but you wanted to give her time to settle in and she was probably too busy to check her email. Also tell her you wanted to make sure that everything was okay and she returned safely from her trip.

Sounds like a couple of good ideas. I guess I'm too close to the situation to not see these solutions for myself. Thanks, Sylvia
