lost an ounce.... I took my baby in for her shots this weekend and to my surprise she lost an ounce. she went from 3.8 to 3.7. i know its not alot, but it worries me. the vet said it wasn't a big deal as she is not too skinny or anything. she is about 4 1/2 months, shouldnt' she still be growing? has this happened to anyone else's baby? i guess she isn't going to get much bigger..... |
i wouldn't worry about it. it can just be the scale difference. i wouldn't take it as word. you baby is probably just fine |
My Feather didn't really gain much weight until after she was spayed at 11 months, then she started to eat like crazy and gained a whole pound |
A one time loss of an ounce can be a signal of a problem, but not always. It's something to keep an eye on though. It is a big clue. (Ever notice the first they do when you go to your Dr is to weigh you. It's a clue.) The thing to watch is continued weight loss, is she eating well, how is she acting. Go by how she feels, rather than how she looks. If you feel less weight/feeling bonier, the vet may need to check more closely. In my experience weight loss is one of the first clues of a problem in animals & birds. You might consider buying a scales so you can know more accurately & more often than vet appointments. Google 'digital scales', there's thousands of them. Some people use food scales. At 4-1/2 mo, she will most likely keep growing. A loss of 1 ounce isn't an indicater of full growth, so don't worry about it until you know there's something to worry about it. Good luck! |
I use my kitchen scale to weigh Missy. I find it very accurate. She loses and ounce or two every once in awhile. Then she'll have a couple of days where she eats a bit more than usual and gains it back. |
