Hello Everyone! Hello everyone, I am new to the forum but have surfed around a few times and have found some great info! I was wondering if there was a website that gave information on when yorkies are ready to become a stud and sort of guidelines that one should go by. Any advise is greatly appreciated! My lil boy is just now 3 months, but I like to be up on information so I was just wanting some info to keep for future reference! Thank you, Rachel and Mr. Yoda (my yorkie):animal36 |
:welcome4: :yorkietal Welcome to Rachel and Mr Yoda :yorkietal :welcome4: You will be so glad that you joined our growing family of Yorkie lovers. Can't wait to see pics of your darlin' litle boy! |
I should have introduced my self and my furbabies a little better than I did at first. My name is Rachel and I currently have my 11wk old lil boy Mr. Yoda the Great. My lil girl, Princess Laya, will be here May 15th, she is still with her mommy now. Yoda, came from an unfortunate evil breeder and I decided it was my job to rescue him. In the past I had Maggie, which passed when my mother became terminally ill, and I had Snickers, who was stolen right out of my front yard right in front of me! Yoda is the cutest lil boy I have ever seen he weighed a whopping 1lb 10 oz. I took him to the vet the very next day and he had ear mites and coccillitis, both treatable with medication. Day #3 turned into Nightmare#1. Yoda began vomitting, lethargic, and had to interest in food or water. I was up with Yoda all night long and as soon as our wonderful vet opened in the morning, we were there. Within 5 minutes, Dr. April, diagnosed Yoda with PARVO. She was very unsure as to whether Yoda would make it or not. Yoda has had his up's and down's since being there but Dr. April called me this afternoon and Yoda is coming home tomorrow! My family couldn't be happier! He is down to 1lb. 5 oz but he is on his way to full recovery! Princess Laya, is almost 4 weeks old. She weighs a whopping 10oz. She will come home to us on May 15th! These precious babies are pets and NEVER will a be part of a mill. These 2 are the only 2 that I own and the only 2 I will own as long as they are in our homes! I have surfed around here a few times and found very interesting and helpful posts! You guys are great! |
Hi Rachel...and Welcome!!! WOW you sure went thru alot with little Yoda!!! And how exciting you will be getting Princess Laya next month!! You must share pics of your babies!!! |
Oh my goodness! It sounds like little Yoda had a hard go of it. I am glad to hear that your story had a happy ending. It sounds like you are a FANTASTIC Yorkie mom, to have been able to pull Yoda through Parvo. Would love to see pics..... hint hint. And congratulations on your new baby Little Princess Laya. |

I'm so happy to see that he is doing better and will be coming home soon. What a lot he's been through already in his short life. I guess I'm not understanding your question. Are you asking for info on using Mr Yoda as a stud for breeding or are you asking at what age are they mature? |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk!!!!!!!! Glad to hear things are looking up for Yoda!!!! |

I'm so glad for you that Yoda pulled through this horrible ordeal. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but you may have a problem when you bring the other puppy home in May. Parvo is very contagious (and hangs around for quite awhile). If Yoda had any vomiting or feces on your floor, your yard, or anywhere else the little girl will come into contact with she will be exposed to Parvo also. You may want to have your little girl's breeder hold on to her longer to make sure she completes her vaccination series before bringing her home. Again, I don't want to upset you or be a black cloud but I also want you to be prepared to have another sick little one if you bring home the new baby before she is completely protected. Hopefully that won't happen and both puppies will do well. Congradulations on your new family members and welcome to Yorkie Talk. Teresa |
