Cash has sweaters for winter as it gets very cold here (no snow though). He is very cold without them and since we don't have central heating (not really used here in SA), I keep him in hoodies. He has some punkrocker ones that are soooo cute, complete with a skull! June will also have sweaters for winter, but nothing for summer - only a bow for her. (No bow for Cash) I think dressing them up in cute if it is more or less practical or holiday related.;) |
My two girls have about 60 outfits between them. Jaycee (2 y/o) absolutely goes nuts when i walk to her little dresser. She knows we're going bye bye! She seems to really like being dressed up in her clothes, and people here in my town get the biggest kick out of her! They call her "Paris"...The baby, Bella, not so much! She can live without clothes, in her mind. ;) |
For the most part, I don't dress Molly up other than mainly for pictures. She does have a couple of sweaters and shirts for the cooler weather as she really minds the cold. Other than that, she has about 5 dresses and some bows. I can't wait for her hair to get long enough for a decent topknot. hehe :D |
Maddy wears a lot of tanks and light dresses. I love bandannas too. She wears clothes usually only on Saturdays. :) |
I think it's up to each person...but I think most take into consideration their babies comfort....I always do...if it's too warm...they are naked..too cold they have sweaters, coats...whatever they need...But I do have the frilly stuff for special occasions too... Daizy doesn't mind anything I put on her...she's a go with the flow kinda gal...But if I put something on Tulip that she hates...suddenly her legs don't work...and she becomes a statue until I remove it! Then I know I've gone overboard...lol So they help set the limits too!:p You'll see my babies in clothes and nakey!! |
I admit...I'm COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS :p LOL! Missy is dressed 24/7, but it is because she enjoys it. If she didn't like clothes on, I would never force her to wear them. When I first got Missy she was 7 weeks old and 1 lb. It was in November, so it was freezing cold. I had to make her sweaters out of socks, and she had to ALWAYS be dressed. I guess because of that, now she is used to it. She really and truly does not enjoy being naked. She wants clothes on. She gets so cold without clothes on, and often she needs 2 layers. If it ever gets hot enough this summer for her to go naked, then she will be more than welcome to. It's really up to her (the spoiled little girl) ;) P.S. Before owning a Yorkie, I admit that I thought it was a little silly for people to dress their dogs except for the odd tshirt or sweater. |
Thor's first owner had Thor in clothes almost every single day (+ collar, not harness). He always seemed perfectly happy running around, though he would scratch like crazy. I asked her about it once and she told me that another coworker had brought in some kind of doggie itch relief cream because she saw him scratching so often. At some point, she stopped putting certain sweaters on him, and voila, he stopped scratching. Anyway, when I got him, he was really good about putting clothes on, and he'd even help you get stuff to fit. Now that I've had him for a while, he seems to have gone in the other direction. The other day I took him the beach and it was quite chilly. I had brought what I thought was a really comfy, stretchy, form-fitting sweater for him. I tried to walk him on the beach, but every ten feet or so he'd stop and try to turn around. I took the sweater off him, and bam, he was a different dog. I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe he's more used to sweater vests? |
To each his / her own, is my opinion. Prince has a sweater for the winter and a bathrobe that he uses after his bath, but that's it. I love looking at pictures of dogs all dressed up, but my husband would have a problem if I dressed Prince with shoes, shorts and shirts. Afterall, Prince (and your furbabies) have the best outfit of all...their beautiful fur coats!! |
I agree with dressing a yorkie is personal preference, not a good or bad thing. Bria isn't the biggest fan of clothes so i don't put them on her that much. She will let me put a shirt on her every now and then. but i wouldn't be able to do most of the things i have seen other people do because she just likes to be naked! |
My yorkie absolutely loves dressing up. I dress her most days unless it's really hot. I got her at 8 weeks and she was very tiny. It was december, so it was cold. Every since then she has acquired more and more clothes:D. She goes to work with me so every morning she goes to her little dresser and looks at me like "come on mom, we better get dressed. It's so cute. I think we both enjoy it.:) |
The guys tolerate fancy collars and bandanas for Halloween, Christmas and other "holidays". I prefer not to dress them up past that. They have more "meat" than little DJ ever did at his heaviest around 5 lbs. He needed a sweater/coat b/c he was so thin. These two teapots/crock pots have more meat but still feel the chill on the occasional cold Satellite Beach FL morning especially, when we take our 530am walk if I am working days. But they are usually too busy sniffing the early morning smells and "watering" just about anything vertical :D to feel chilled very long. |
Addie is happy either way. She's usually naked when we're home, but she's usually always dressed when we go somewhere. I have a few sweaters for the winter and some dresses for special occasions and she will have a bathing suit this summer! She loves to put on her clothes, she gets really excited (probably because she knows we're going out). If I have one of her dresses or a shirt on the coffee table and she sees it, she will cry for me to put it on her. After she gets dressed, she sits up like she's a princess, it's sooo cute. I did buy some boots (with fur) for the winter, but she couldn't walk in them and they don't fit her fully so she's never worn them. |
Tater is a skinny boy and he freezes in the winter without his sweater or hoodie on. He doesn't love coats, but otherwise he is happy! I love his little blue fleece hoodie on him! Plus all the kids in the neighborhood loved him in the little bumble bee costume I put him in on Halloween. Coco is a bit heaftier but I assume she will also need some pretty little sweaters this winter. For now, I am waiting until her hair grows out so she can at minimum have a topknot with a bow :) |
help me out My yorkie is almost 8 months old now and the only time i put something on her was in the winter during walks. SHE HATED IT. Do I not have the patience or what? I feel like she is being tortured. She will squirm and roll all over the place when it is on. how did you guys get your dog used to clothes? |

Tee hee....I'm working on a apres' bath outfit right now. As long as it's weather appropriate, I don't see anything wrong with a cute shirt or jacket. We do soft booties around here in the rain and snow because I have pampered pooches who don't like their tootsies getting wet. |
