Which one should i get..... I really want a new baby, and thought I wanted a girl I have a 3.5 yr old boy who is all momma's. My neighbor's little girl just had her first litter 2 boys. I get first pick.:) I really don't know what to do. Will 2 boys get along? My Buttons is very sweet and gentle so I know he wouldn't hurt the baby, but my DH says to wait for the girl. I need a baby fix NOW. lol. Would it be better for Buttons if I waited for girl or should I get the boy/ They are only 1 week old, so freaking cute. Help me decide. :) I have been looking at girls and so far haven't been impressed with the breeder or the bitch. My neighbor and I are good friends and she has both parents, the female is 6 lbs abd the daddy is 4 lbs. |
Neutered boys can get along very well. Follow your heart, if you want a girl, then wait for one.:) Myself, I prefer females. |
of course 2 boys can get along as well as 2 girls....however if you really want a girl...I'd wait...those babies are only a week old....so you still have time to look for a female.... |
I think two boys generally will get along better than two females. However, a male and a female are usually bound to get along quicker and are probably faster to be-friend each other. I love my little boy though and after having girl dogs all my life... I think I like boy dogs better. Jackson is my only boy. My next dog will probably be a boy as well. It's just something about mama's boys.... I find the girl dogs to definitely be more bitchy, stubborn and independent. But that's not always the case. |
I have had female dogs all my life, and Couver is my first male. I would definitely say he is more loyal than any female dog I know. It might be just him. The only drawback to him was his constant humping at the dog park, but that stopped immediately after he was fixed. I do however plan on getting a girl once we are ready because I have read so much about how they bond best. When I was searching for my first pup, I wanted a girl, but I fell in love with Couver and had to have him. I guess go with your gut. If you are set on a girl, it is worth the wait. Do what you feel is best:D |
I have 2 boys, 1 is neutered and the other is not. They get along just fine. Good-Luck in your chose...:goodluck: |
Personally, I'd wait for a girl. I think they'd just mesh better. |
I have waited two years for a friend for Cash. I wanted to get a girl and although many cute boys came across my path, I had always wanted a girl and am now so happy that I got one. Before I got Cash, I wanted a girl, but couldn't afford one. Although I love Cash dearly, I still wanted to get a girl. I think that if you really want a girl, you won't really be satisfied until you have one - and that might mean many dogs in your family!!. Now, I have my girl and Cash has a sister who always wants to play with him. Funny thing is: I leave her in the expen when I go to my classes and Cash gets so angry that he pushes over the dustbin and spreads the contents around the apartment - he used to do this before he was used to be on his own. I can't wait until she is house trained enough to be left with him during the day (he would never hurt her). |
If your heart is set on a girl, then wait. You've got several weeks to wait for one of those little guys anyway, so spend your time looking for a girl that's ready. Of course dh says to get the boy. It's a guy thing! And if you get the boy, he won't have to listen to you anguishing over which to get for the next 3 months. : ) |
Since you already have a boy and your heart was originally set on a girl, i would wait and hold out for the girl. Otherwise, you will be looking for number 3 before you know it!! I had Oliver and then got Brooklyn and they hit it off right from the get go!! Good luck on your choice!! Trust me, i understand the baby need! Hence....my Benjamin...(new baby maltese!) Just couldnt resist that adorable face!!:D |
As long as they are neutered, you'll be ok. But if you really want a girl.. I would wait. Girls look so cute with their little dress!!! |
Thank you... Thank you everyone for your input. I really want Buttons to have a feriend so he is not lonely while we are at work. DH sometimes comes home at lunch to play with him but, when we leave he is sitting by the door with THAT face :(. I just can't take it anymore. I reallky would not dress her up,although it is very cute, maybe a sweater in winter and a har dor summer. The person who has the pups has 5 dogs only 2 yorkies and has a beautiful clean home, well cared for animals so I know their health (we have the same vet) and groomer. That's one reason I would get the boy. But my main concern is will they get along? Besides I can alway cry and make DH crazy and get a 3rd one :D. I'll keep you posted. I am going to get to see them today.:) |

BUT, like everyone else said, if your heart is really stuck on a girl...then get your girl. But I don't think the reason for NOT getting a boy should be that they might not get along cuz honestly, I think they'll be fine! :) |
