Hair bands I am thinking about putting Katia's hair up to keep it out of her face. I don't want to do the whole topknot thing, so I'm thinking of buying some of those "ouchless" hair bands for people. Has anyone used these and/or do you think its ok to use on a puppy? :aimeeyork |
I have put those on Gidget.....I have never had to get them out....she always manages....I think I am doing it wrong....Do people put them in super tight???? I tryed the 2 around then the the last just loop it but then she shook her head and now she looks likea fountain :P |
I always put Keeley's bangs up in a little "sumo" hairstyle. (My hubby does't like the term "top knot" it is too girly :D ) But I use the ouchless hair elastics and pull it up and do it until the elastic is tight. BUT be sure not to make the hair too tight, I had a groomer tell me it could make them have eye problems if they aren't able to get their eyes closed. I always give him a yummy treat afterwards and he is starting to let me do it without putting up a fight--- because he knows what comes once the hair is done. |
I use the little baby ouchless bands as well. I take the smalles ones and put it around 3 times. It is a little tight, but I pull it about 1" up from her head so it doesn't pull on her eyes, and she can close her eyes. If I don't put it in tight, Trixie will have it out in no time. She's getting better about letting me put her hair up. |
we use them and the breakage has gotten a lot better. Gracie would scratch her head till it just looked like a big ole mess and she would end up breaking off some of her hair. The ouchless are the best way to go JMHO |
I have try regular hair bands and the ouchless bands. I guess im not doing it rite cause she always manage to take them off. One time I did it so tied that poor thing was rubbing her head all over the bed. I just took it off. I prefer the ouchless thou cause they dont brake her hair. The other bands I cut off. |
I use the ouchless also. My guy can get them out, so there probably not tight enough. For a couple of hours after I put it in, he looks like he has a side ponytail!! Its so funny! Then he manages to get it out and his hair is going everywhere! That's pretty funny looking too! |
Hi, I don't get on to spend much time on this forum but I really enjoy it when I do. I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but I use tiny little butterfly clips in her hair. I just twist the hair on the top of her head and pop a clip on. I occasionally have to redo it throughout the day but it only takes a couple of seconds. She has no problem leaving it in. When we first got her, her top hair was so thin that a band wouldn't stay in. I tried everything until I came up with these. I get them at Wal-Mart in the kids hair section. Just thought someone may want to try them. They come in all different colors andwith maybe twenty to a pack!. Again, I really enjoy the forum! Abbie's Mom |
i would love to know what they look like.. i cant anything in lexi's hair..her hair to entirely tooooo thin |

I have found that the little girl bands for ponytails that are colored, perhaps it's the ouchless kind work great for my girls. The secret for me was to put them in every day and remove them at night. So, my daily grooming now is brushing, putting their hair up and brushing their teeth. After a few times, they get used to it. Just make sure to loosen the hair so their bands are not too tight. Anything else I tried Chloe would take Lacey's out and Lacey would take Chloe's out. And, forget barettes, even the lightest weight would pull out easily. Then I'd find a broken piece but not the rest. Too much to worry about. |
I tried to use them on Sadie's hair but her hair is thin and they just slide out. I just rubber bands for braces which my sister gave me. |
i bought some of those fuzzy little covered hairbands at walmart in the children's section and harley had done great with them. harley's mom |

That is how I got the Scotties to allow me to "strip them". They catch on pretty fast. |
I wish I could figure out how to post a photo but everytime I try it says it too large. I have it on the lowest resolution so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. If you'd like, I'd be happy to send you a photo by email |

I was finally able to get a couple of photos of Abbie in the picture gallery. Still can't figure out how to post one on here though! |
2 Attachment(s) I use one of these on PIta and they work great! |
I didn't like the ouchless ones when I first started putting Reagan's hair up. She was able to get them out in a matter of minutes. I used the small rubber ones they were harder for her to get out. Now she's used to them so she leaves them alone for the most part so I use the ouchless ones. I also use the ones that are covered in cotton, they don't seem to do any damage to her hair either. I've used the butterfly clips as well. I have started putting a little bun on the top of Reagans hair and the butterfly clips work great for that. I will twist her hair and just continue twisting until it forms the bun then pop one of those clips on. I can also use a barrette this way without a rubberband. |
