Booze Hound!! So Im all paranoid about poison in my yard but the snails are eating my Hostas to pieces. So I got this thing called a beer trap. You fill it up with beer and the snails like the smell, they go in, get drunk and drown. I got it all set up and when I turned my back for a second, Callie drank all the beer out of it! |
Is Callie OK... |
Oh goodness!!! I hope it doesn't make her sick. How much beer does it take to drown a snail? |
I was worried at first, but she is totally fine. It was probably about 1/4 cup. No snail bait, no beer trap. I guess Im going to give up and let the snails have a salad bar in my Hosta garden. |
I am glad she is okay. We have those snails here, I hate them. |
HA! That made me laugh!! After I knew she was okay, of course! |
Can you put a grid or I was thinking something like chicken wire over top of the cup so the snails can go in but the dog cant get to it |
It has a hole in the side, so she had to stick her tongue way in and curl it down to get to the beer. Im going to put it out at night and put it up each morning to keep Callie from having a party!! |
I'm sorry i was reading your post and then I just bust out a laugh. Everyone in the room looked at me. I didn't expect you to say he drank it. They are just too much these little guys. Hope your baby is okay. There must be something you could do to get rid of the snails. I hate when they ruin plants. Maybe put a little chicken wire fence around the little beer barrier to keep your baby away. |
Ha!!!!! Lola loves booze of any sort too, she's always trying to get her little face in the glass whenever someone has a beer... is that a normal yorkie thing I wonder? Hope Callie's tummy is feeling ok! |
After I read that Callie was ok, I had a good laugh. Your neighbors are going to think you are nutzo running around after dark putting the beer traps out and then again first thing in the morning picking them back up. Let's hope that your beer loving snails are noctournal. |
