It just breaks my heart.... to leave this house without my baby. The difference between S'anah and Norman (other than the obvious - Norman is a shih tzu, but a yorkie at heart ;)) is that when I leave the house, S'anah could care less. She just looks at me like "see ya" and curls up with her daddy. NORMAN, on the other hand, starts getting excited the minute he sees me getting me dressed. He wants to GO. I take him with me everywhere I can, but sometimes (like right now) I need to go to the grocery store, or some other place that won't let him in and he has to stay home. So I am sitting here typing this, waiting for him to calm down a little bit so my leaving won't be such a big deal. Otherwise he will sit at the door and cry/howl so loud I can hear him all the way out in the driveway. :( It just KILLS me when he does that. I'm beginning to think BOTH of us suffer from sep anxiety. *sigh* |
awww.....you poor thing!:( I feel your pain....i hate the looks i get when i cant take mine with me either. They know when you are getting ready and they wait by the door for me. They know which one i go out to get to the car. I hate when i cant take them with me, but, sometimes you just cant! Be strong...you will get through it!!;) |

I can relate to this. Roxie follows me all over the place knowing I'm getting ready to go. When I get to the door she'll either dart out at my feet in order to make it before the door closes or sit and just give me the stare. You know the one? The eyes pleading to go too. When she really can't go I have to be firm and tell her stay. As soon as I shut the door she sulks back to my room and lays down and sleeps till I come back. Or sit at the front door staring out the side window. Last week DH and I had errands to run. We were in the truck and he decided she was coming. So he came back into the house and got her. What a happy baby! She's been extra extra lovey with him ever since. It made me look bad I think since I was the one who told she had to stay and shut the door lol!! |

bailee knows when i start to leave too...she starts going crazy when she sees me put on my shoes...she cant stand to be left at home...it doesnt matter if we had a million ppl staying to play wit her she cries the second i shut the door |

two things you can try these are things i've heard that might help you and your baby one thing you can do is to work with you puppy by leaving the house, and telling him to wait, close the door, and open it again, and telling him 'good wait' (or whatever word you think works for you) repeat this, and each time you lengthen how long before you open the door. basically the idea is to get him use to you leaving and coming back, so he knows that you will return and he doesnt need to freak out. the other thing i've heard is to not make a big deal out of leaving and returning, you want to make the dog think it's nothing big, and it's just something normal you do. with that method. you just leave the house without interacting with the dog, and when you return, you don't make a big deal out of it either, you wait 5 min. before you acknowlege the dog. i don't do either one....lol. i usually just prepare a dish full or treats cut up into little pieces, and sneak out of the house while she is eating the treats....:rolleyes: |
