Kongs? I bought both my baby's a Kong with peanut butter filling and i have a 13week old Minnie and a 3 1/2yr old Bingo and they both are not interested in it. And I heard such good rave's about it on the site and on petco, petland etc why must they not like it? I feel like i spent so much money for no reason I just cleaned out the peanut butter cuz it was getting old and left them with out any filling has anyone yorkie denyed a KONG toy treat? |
Tobie wasn't interested in his with peanut butter but likes when I put treats in it. However, if there's no treats in it then he rarely plays with it. |

The kong treats are kind of expensive so I use the shorter bacon shaped treats. They don't fall right out but are easy enough for him to get out after a little awhile. |
I use ziggies. They're healthy treats made out of alfalfa...it cleans their teeth. I only give them a little bit & if you put it in a kong, they can only eat what's sticking out. Now that Mimi & Momo is older, I use ziggies for adult dogs. I feel safe leaving them home alone w/a ziggie in a kong, cuz they can't choke on it.:D |
Do you think it was the kong they didn't like? Maybe they just don't like the filling that came with it. I put cheerios or little jacks in, and then I give it a little shake so Snoopy knows there's something in there. It's also takes a little thinking to get them out. ;) |
I almost threw out the free treat too. It was in the little trainglular part at the bottom of the packaging. Bailey hasn't seemed to interested in that though. I have the kong puppy stuffn, which she likes to lick out. She also likes it when I put peanut butter in it. However, she's not as interested in the kong itself as I had hoped. She doesn't really bite it or anything. Just tries to lick out the insides. |
I ordered a Kong online so I'm hoping Jackson likes it.... He can be picky with his toys so we'll see. |
:DFiona is in love with her kong. you can put a treat or food in in and put it in the freezer, it will keep them busy for a long long time!!!!! |

Lady never liked her Kong, but she loves her Busy Buddy Twist & Treat! They are much easier to clean, too, because they unscrew. Premier Busy Buddy Twist N' Treat |

those are great too. i used to tell clients in my puppy talks to get them, however, i never got around and got fiona one! go figure! |
I bought a kong toy when tucker was little and he has messed with it twice. I bought kong treats to put in it and they made him throw so I tried peanut butter he licked it some but wasnt interested in it for long. It sits in his basket of toys that he barely mess's with.. |
I bought the small and medium kong for our furbabies. Our oldest loves them BOTH! He has mastered getting the kong treats out by letting it bounce to the floor while on our bed:p. That must loosen it up! our youngest only really likes them when they have treats inside or if his big brother is playing with them (he will take it from him:eek:!). He likes the medium one because he can get his nose right in there! The oldest one loves to play with them even when they are empty. He has an obsession with rubbery toys though:p! |
I've just started to put yoghurt in Tias kong and freezing it , she goes mad for it |
Chewie loves her kong but... My pup Chewie loves her kong with peanut butter. She can't wait for it every morning. However, my mother-in-law's dog won't go near her kong no matter what. She's a picky eater and is not interested in the kongs at all. I guess some love them and some don't like them at all. |
While we're on the subject of kongs and peanut butter, I have a question. Is it ok to use any peanut butter or should you really get more natural brands? I have been using Skippy because it's what I had in the pantry, but it does have lots of sugar and salt in it. Of course Bailey has a tiny puppy kong and I only put about a teaspoon of it in, and she doesn't even eat it all at once. |

haha same with my two my Minnie loves cat toys and strings and stuff i by accident bought a bag of cat toys at the pet store not knowing it was cat toys and my friend pointed it out to me and she loves it like the ringing of the bell and stuff like that and my two yorkie love tugging toys and Minnie trys to follow anything Bingo does also but when i gave them the Kong they licked it one or twice and didnt bother with it again so once and a while i treat them to a spoon of peanut butter its less stressful for them and my babys also like marshmellow fluff well Minnie likes it more lol |

So... Jackson's not huge on his Kong but maybe I just got the wrong one... lol. I got the dental stick one with ridges in it and I tried to put peanut butter in the little hole. He didn't really care. He started to kinda lick it and chew on it but it lasted all of like 2 minutes lol. So now it's in the freezer. I should've ordered the bigger one... o well |
i got the kong about a week ago and put peanut butter in it for my baby he licked it like once then walked away and chewed his bully stick. I thought that he didn't like it but then i cooked some carrots and hot dog and popped it in the freezer and he loves it! i guess peanut butter was not good enough i would recommend putting meat in it chicken, hot dog, beef etc |
My babies like their kongs (they have 3 different ones, 2 bones and 1 little mountainy shaped thing)... but only if there are treats in them. They don't fool with them if they don't. I have put yogurt or peanut butter in them (and you can freeze this) and cheese whiz (they LOVE this!). I have tried the kong (sample treats that come with the kong itself) treats and they could care less for them. Fine by me b/c those can be expensive! |
