Which personality..... I am going to look at pups tomorrow. There are only 2 pups and I wont have a choice because there is someone else with first pick. He says they do have very different personalities, one placid and one boisterous. He said he will be recommending the placid one to the other people as they have a young child. Is there any qualities you could expect from either... For example, will the placid one be more shy and timid, or will the boisterous one be more independent and harder to train? Can you make generalisations like this, or will they change? |
I have one of each personality! They are both very smart and train very well. The important thing is to spend time with each of them. You will know which one...They tend to instantly bond with you!:p |
My girl is very independent but at night likes to cuddle. But my boys always have to be on my lap. One of my boys Pablo is such a chicken but out of the blue he was growling at some people walking by my house...Guess my point is they change.. |
Oh, By the way..Im so glad you are going to look. This will do you the WORLD of Good...SMILE..... |
Very often a pup's personality will change once they're out of the litter environment. A rowdy pup can prevent another's personality from blossoming. Also, a very outgoing pup may calm down when they're no longer around other pups. I don't understand why the breeder would recommend a shy type pup to a family with kids. They may be too much for a timid one to come out of its shell. If you get first look, just go with your instinct. Spend a few minutes with each of them without the other one around so you may get a better idea of how they act without the other's influence. |
The shy one is bigger so maybe this is why the breeder thinks its best. I didnt ask to much about it, as I think fate will take its course. If the other person has first pick, I dont really mind. I will love each pup the same, no matter which one it is. |

Missy changed after I got her. I had picked the larger more boisterous puppy because I have 3 young children. Now she's pretty mellow and she's the smallest of the litter. |
I got excited tonight when I got the call because they werent supposed to ring to the weekend, but I am still feeling very nervous and apprehensive. It is a totally different feeling to when I went looking for Millie, but I think that is natural. I still feel guilty, I worry that other people will be thinking I can forget about Millie so quickly, I worry about what Millie would be thinking of it. But that sort of stuff can just eat you up, and everything spare minute I have when I am not working, or doing stuff about the house, I am thinking of Millie. I need this new pup to focus myself on something else. I will never forget Millie, but for some reason, she was not meant to be with us for long. |

gosh, when i picked up my dog, i didn't know which one to pick either, my fiance helped me pick because he grew up with a lot of dogs. he picked the one that wasn't acting too hyper and wasn't too scared when you separate her from her brothers and sister. milu is mostly pretty melow. she LOVEs people and she is extrememly well behaved. (i didn't even have to puppy proof the house, she doesn't take anything that's not hers, hehe) i would just try to stay away from SUPER Hyper puppies. (but i am really not an expert) lol i just know that the breeder tried to get me to also take a puppy that was bouncing off the wall. i think that hyper puppies can be a lot of work. |

Don't think anyone here would look at you harshly for wanting another baby to love!!!! You just have a heart large enough for more than one yorkie in your life!!! I think it's the most wonderful thing you can do...and a tribute to the love you had for Millie to open up your heart and home to another yorkie!!! I can't wait to see pics of your new baby!! And Congrats!!!! :) |

When I talked to my breeder, I tolder her I wanted the sweetest, most cuddly puppy. I hadn't visitied them first. Well, I got a sweet, intelligent, snuggly puppy but she is way smaller than I expected. But she has all the qualities I requested and we love her dearly! Just over cautious because of her size. But as far as personality, she's exactly what we had hoped for! |
