Kennel Cough twice??? I rarely take my dogs out anywhere. Both of them are usually always inside. Last night one of them was coughing, it sounded like a honk alllll night long. :( It came out of nowhere. He had not been coughing at all then all of a sudden last night it seemed he had a coughing fit every hour! I was up all night with him and I did not know what to do. I am going to take him to the vet today. Both my yorkies had kennel cough when they were puppies and they were put on medication for it. Could this be kennel cough again, and if so, how can they get it when they are always inside? |
Or tonsillitis or something else...Don't jump to conclusions. Let us know what your vet says. OK? Hope your little one gets well soon. :) |
oh dear yes... see what ur vet says first good luck man ... well kennel cough is a virus (am i right) and viruses cant be cured they just lay dormant ... so i guess it can come back depending on ur babys health condition |
ARGGG! I really need to find a new vet. So I took Gibson in and she x-rayed his lungs?? She said that his lungs looked fine and that he had not coughed since he had been in her office. I proceeded to explain to her that he sounded really really bad last night and that if he hadn't I would have waited a few days to see if he got better. She gave him a cough suppresant to be on for 7 days. I also had her check his leg since he will walk on it but not run on it. She said that it might be lp but that he would not let her extend his leg to xray it so she could not tell me for certain!! She said that when I get him fixed to have his leg checked out. So what am I supposed to do until then!?! Let him limp around?? Sorry to vent, I just see some responses on here and everyone's vet seems very good. Mine on the other hand never seems to catch anything. $200 later, I walk out the door with only cough syrup and with the worry that he "might" have lp. |
Well, there is one good thing. You know his lungs aren't full of fluid! I have never known of a vet that even tried to x-ray limbs without putting the animal under because any movement would mess up the x-ray. Some have scheduled days for that unless it is an emergency. I don't know... How old is he? How soon do you plan on having him neutered? |

Have the vet check the yorkie for a collapsed trachea. |
