Does your dog do this? When Mahina wakes up from sleeping for a while she'll sort of limp. After she walks around for a little bit (seconds not minutes) or stretches out she's fine. Is this normal? Is it kind of like humans where we just have to get used to walking after sleeping for a while because we don't use our muscles? Does your dog do this? Or should I have this checked out... she doesn't limp at any other time nor does she lift her leg up when she walks. Am I just being a worrier? She's 9 months old if that helps with anything. |
i'm not sure what you define as limp -please excuse me, i dont have that great of an imagination. could you give a more detailed explanation please? was your baby limp like staggering while walking or dragging her body around kinda lifelessly or just not using one of her legs? yogurt does wake up in the middle of his sleep and look all confused and dazzed. he is usually in the sitting position when he does this with his previously injured paw lifted up (like he is ready for a hand shake). he goes in circles a few times (without putting down his paw). he then stretch his body out in a "bowing " position (front body lying down but his back legs and bum is up). then goes back to sleep does this sound like what mahina does? i had the vet looked at his paws a while ago. he told me yogurt's legs are fine, nothing is wrong with his joints or anything. he said it might have been the fact that he had his cast on his paw for a month and a half when he was only 9 weeks old that he sometimes thinks he still has the cast on like a "phatom" cast. if you are concerned, then definately have her checked out by the vet. i know i can't sleep and stress myself out if i dont know the definitive answer to why yogurt is doing some of the things he is doing :D i know this is not so much as a diagnosis/help, its just my own experience. i hope other YT members could give you better advice!! |
I guess I would say it's more like a staggering, like she has to get her balance. It also looks like she's sort of limping, but no leg up or anything. I guess it's more of a stagger though. |
I really don't know? Don't sound like something to realy worry about, but i would mention it to the vet next time you go and see what he think about it. |
Bella does this a lot.. especially when shes running.. she lifts up her back leg like she doesnt wanna use it. It doesnt seem to hurt her though. Anyone got an idea why she does this? |
my toby tends to stagger a little until hes all the way up and streches I guess their legs ache or go a little numb too from sleeping so much :) |

That might be what Bella has though... you may want to consider getting her checked out by the vet and see what they say. LP's can cause pain and may need surgery depending on the grade of it. |
