How do i decide ? Im going to pick out my new yorkie puppy next weekend and i was wondering if anyone could give me any help on what to look for when i pick him out ? |
Seriously consider the one that picks you. I also look at their eyes. |
Welcome to YT :wavey: I picked the confident pups who came running straight to me! Also, I picked larger puppies as I was hoping for a larger yorkie when full-grown (although, I know that's not a guarantee) Good luck with your new furbaby....be sure to post pics :D xxx xxx |
Read the standard's for a Yorkie American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier Ask to take a look at the parents. What was important to us was the coat's of the parents and there puppies, the eyes, temperament and disposition. The breeders knowledge and there home surroundings where also very important to us. Good luck |

I agree w/the first post...Apple chose me, because she was the one that kept running up to me to show me the toy she had...It happened several times, so she was the one lol...In fact, I was on my way to get a boy, and hadn't planned to spend as much, on a girl....However, you'll see how "they" capture your heart...I didn't want a shy one, and BOY, I didn't get one, either...lol.... All The Best To You and Your Little One!!! Maggie & Apple:aimeeyork xoxoxo :yorkiesar |
I have no intention of ever showing, so the "standards" weren't nearly as important to me as much as the pup itself. At first, we wanted a little girl - and came home with a boy. I didn't know jack-didly about breeders - only that I didn't want a pup from a store. Puddie's breeder was probably not the best, even for a BYB, but he's a good dog and we love him. But we still wanted a girl. I sat on the floor and HER breeder let the pups out. She had several litters of varying ages, and when they were let out, there was a big pile of tumbling furballs in the middle of the floor ... then they noticed me. Two of them broke loose - both girls, one 12 weeks one 8 weeks. Both crawled into my lap and started with the kisses. It was a very hard decision, and I still kick myself for not taking them both ... but I took the older one. Isabella is the sweetest, most loving little bundle of fur you could ever hope to share your life with. Keep your mind - and heart! - open. What you *think* you want may not really be WHAT you want in the long run. I love both my dogs, the one *I* chose and the one who chose ME, but the one who chose me is more loving. |
you got some great advice already....and mine is pretty much the same....when you go there...just interact with all the puppies....and see which one chooses you!!! You might have to play with them for awhile...to find that special one..but when you do....You'll always be happy with your decision!!! Good luck and Welcome to YT...can't wait to see which baby you choose..are you bringing home the baby that same day???? If so I want PICS.....if not...still TAKE PICS!!! lol |
