Will he calm down? Before we decided to get a puppy I was a little scared because it had been so long since my dogs were puppies and I know that puppies are hard work; however, Tobie has been pretty easy. He's a fast learner, he only whines whenever I leave the house and he rarely ever mouths me and my husband anymore. The biggest problem I am having with him is that my older dogs have a hard time handling him. When he wants to play he will come up behind them and bite the back of their legs or jump up and bite their ears. Do you think this is just a puppy thing and he will grow out of it? He has done good with saying, "no bite!" when he mouths my husband and I, so I have been saying it when he bites the other dogs. Usually when I say it he will go to their faces and "look" like he is giving them kisses but I can tell he is sneaking in little bites! If it's just a puppy thing then when do they usually start to calm down a bit? |
I hope they grow out of it! Bailey has the same problem with the cat. I always thought as soon as the cat stops running, Bailey won't have to chase her and she'll just sniff her and try to get her to play. But NO, when the cat stood still and let the puppy come up, Bailey jumped on her back and tried to bite! Of course she still has trouble with biting me and others though too. |
We don't have any other dogs, so I don't know if that would have been different, but I can tell you that Oscar was a VERY active puppy. He used to bite our ankles when he wanted to play and he was pretty much on the go non-stop. Since having him neutered and as he has gotten older, he has gotten a million times calmer and the ankle biting has completely stopped. What I like is that he is still his same spunky self, just toned down a bit! |

Mine plays pretty good with the cat, cuz she hisses really loud when she gets bite on the tail LOL And she plays with the ferrets a little to hard though, so i have to keep constantly watching them when i have them out together. The male ferret seems to fight back and has even made Chloe squeal, but it wasn't a few secs she was right back jumping on him again LOL The little girl ferret though just freezes up around her and i have to usually save her. |
