do you think PETA can be a little too extreme? |
I'm confused at to what this article has to do with PETA? The breeder doesn't even mention them. Not sure of the intent but this topic isn't going to go well. No PETA thread does. |
To answer your question: yes. I'm guessing this thread will be off the rails in fifteen posts or less. :p |
WOW!!! WHAT? That is insane! I know that a shelter is a good place if you are looking for a pet, but DON'T get me started on this one. Animal Rights groups like PETA want all pet animals to be extinct. They don't want anyone in the US to have a companion animal. Well, if you buy from a breeder, you are continuing the breed - if no one bought a puppy from a breeder, then slowly, all pure breeds would cease to exist. If you are looking for a pet, please, please, go to a shelter and get one for your family. BUT, do not feel vguilty for buying a pure bred puppy. Instead of putting down the people who buy pure bred dogs, why don't they spend their money (instead of on advertising) giving free spay and netuers to every shelter in the country? The ad from PETA (I think this was the point of the post) 'Buy One, Get One Killed' When you buy an animal from a pet store or a breeder, you're responsible for a new member of the family! You're also responsible for the death of an animal in an animal shelter who needed a home. If you want to bring an animal into your life, always adopt from an animal shelter. Yes, Peta is in the article though perhaps not mentioned by the breader. Peta is so extream that eventually they want all pet ownerhip to vanish at some point in time. I used to take "Cats" magazine before they were taken over by the same folks that took over the "Dog" magazine. One of the writers quoted an article that had been in "Bazzar" magazine. The article was an interview of the then presidet of Peta. She was quoted as saying that indeed that was the goal of Peta, to get people over the idea of keeping any domesticated animals!!! I didn't get to read the actual article, just the one in the "Cats" magazine,(back in the 80's). Wish I could find it! There I'm finished. |
:2popkorn: Any bets on how long till this thread is closed  ? |

Here's an article from the LA Times if there is anyone who didn't know about this: PETA asks sponsors to drop Westminster dog show | L.A. Unleashed | Los Angeles Times |
Ummm... if everyone got their dogs from shelters... wouldn't dogs end up extinct? I used to be a PETA member. No longer. :D And I love animals. My bet - four pages. ;) |
"do you think PETA can be a little too extreme? " YES! Zealots from either side of most issues are too extreme for my way of thinking. |
sorry, i didn't know peta was a sensitive subject on this forum. had i known, i wouldn't have posted the article. i was just so shocked by the actions of these animal rights activists...i mean...come on...sending the breeder and biden death threats? i know they love animals, but sending death threats is a serious crime itself and there are no excuses for that. |

No worries, fadeddenim, it could have been much worse. You could have posted a question about dog food. ;) |
