I got chester and was over whelmed for a few weeks, he slept with me from day one, no potty issues I was very lucky. Yorkies love to be with their humans and they pick up on your emotions very quickly they are smart little burgers. They needs lots of bonding and cuddling and loving especially the first few weeks. You can get a dap dog appeassing phreomone, it plugs into the well or they have a spray, it smells like the nursing mother so it calms them down. You can leave somthing in their crate that smells like you, a t shirt or something. They are worth every minute of intial frustration, they will be your buddy for life, guard you, love you and will protect you. I cannot imagine my life without chester |
I would not personally feed either one of those foods, innova, solid gold which I feed chester, wellness, natural balance, merrick. are good. Stay away from foods that have any corn, wheat and soy, bha, and bht nasty preservatives and by prodcuts. Gluten wheat or corn are not good either. |
The first couple of weeks are were really hard for my husband and me, but especially for my husband who has never had a dog in his life with the exception of in college when his roomates brought one for a couple weeks. Crate training did not work out for us. Genghis sleeps in a little doggy bed next to me, however sometime in the night he finds his way up to the foot of the bed. This is a recent development. I'm sure the next time I wake up in the middle of the night I'm going to find him on my face! :) I saw it posted earlier, but the best advice I can give is to make the puppy sleepy! Run him around and around. Let him play with a neighbors dog. I have a nice dog park near by that gives him a real work out though Genghis was really shy the first month I brought him there. 11 weeks is pretty young (too young for the dog park) but it's important to get your puppy aquatinted with other dogs so he can learn what to do and what not to do. Welcome to YT! |
Welcome to YT and the world of Yorkie mother-hood! It's the greatest ever! They really are such a joy to have around. When you first bring them home it can seem a little over whelming with them being so small and new mother wants to do everything just right. It really helps to read alot and with all the info. you'll figure out what works best for you in your house. What food was your puppy on when you got him? If you switch around becareful because switching foods suddenly can really cause problems in their little digestive systems. If your going to switch make sure you mix the new with the old and gradually take the old one out. Everyone here has different opinions on foods and great suggestions. Some dogs have problems with foods other dogs do great with. Just depends on what works for you and yours. Roxie was on Royal Canine puppy when I got her and I just always kept her on it because she had no tummy troubles with it. As she got older I put her on the Royal Canine for Yorkies. I thought about switching a few times just to be different but after getting some advice here I decided not to. She has never had any tummy problems since I got her, no runny poo, no smelly poo and very regular. If something works why break it? There is lots of really good info. here so just enjoy reading and you'll find what works best for you. |
BUMP, thought we needed to see this as well just to see this is a recurring problem for the OP |
