Well, tomorrow, Gellica is scheduled for her spay. We have been so torn with this decision, but we know this is for the best. She is such a great Mommy - it just comes so natural to her, but because of her bout with Eclampsia two weeks after she delivered (October 2007) we decided to have her fixed. Then, after reading all the horrible stories of dogs not making it through the surgery, we decided to hold back a bit and just keep her away from our male when she is in heat.

Then, her last heat (October 2008) she developed Pyometra (uterine infection) and we just can't put her through anymore. So, tomorrow is the big day, but we are just so darn nervous!! She is so much more than a dog to us, she really is a best friend. So, please, keep her in your thoughts tomorrow. Thanks YT!!

Good luck and I hope your baby makes it okay. I just dropped my Brandi off for her spay as well. She is 7yrs old and was rescued from a backyard breeder. I've only had her since Oct and I am on pins and needles. She is more than just a dog, she is part of my family. I had all the necessary blood work done and I made sure she was in excellent physical shape.

When I brought her home, she had been really neglected. It cost me about 1700.00 to get her healthy again not including her spaying. So I am hoping after her spay, other then her yearly check ups, I won't have to take her to the vet as often. Sending our prayer for both of our babies.

Stacy, You and Gellica will be in my prayers for sure! It will be such a relief for you when it is over and done with. I hope the times flies for you...:D

I think you are doing the best thing for your little girl. She seems to be having a little trouble. This will help her. She will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Give her great big hugs from Coco, Pebbles and Trixie. I know it's really scary I called the vet 3 times when my babies were there. I just needed to know how they were. Good luck !!

Well, I just dropped her off :( -- It's like she knew, she cried in the car the whole way there. Please keep her in your thoughts today. I can call and check on her at 1:30 - but that seems like so far away!

I know how tough that is but she is in good hands. She is probably being spoiled rotten by all the techs. :) Keeping Gellica in my thoughts and prayers today.

That is how I felt yesterday with Penny\'s spay. The lady at the desk encouraged me that they had never lost a dog to spay or a neuter. I needed to hear that. I think we just read the sad stories here because people come to get support. With having the blood tests first to check their health, we minimize the risk greatly. You are doing the right thing for your dog.

I will keep you, your dog and those human hands that are caring for her in my thoughts and prayers today.

Well, I finally got word form the vet that Gellica is okay! She is still sleeping, but she\'s coming home after 4:00 today! I will update later on once I know more. Thank you all for your support! I\'ve been climbing the walls today!
