Pet health insurance -What do you think? What is your opinion on Pet health insurance? Has there been a time you really needed it? Wished you had purchased it? Do you have it and think it has been a waste of money? |
It was one of the first things I got for Tia with her being so small. Its only £9 a month and it gives you peace of mind as I could never deny her an op if she needed it.Shes only 9mths old , hadnt needed it yet , touch wood. |
I have it for Gus. I'll likely breakeven this year (first year with insurance), & plan to renew. |
I did look into pet insurance for Twinkle....but found it all soooo confusing:rolleyes: Instead we opened a seperate account that a portion of our wages go into each month incase of Twinkle-related emergencies :) xxx |
Did you purchase your insurance over the internet or at the vet's office? |
Can anyone recommend a good insurance company for pets? |
I have VPI insurance on all 3 of mine. Cali has used it numerous times and I am way ahead on her premium vs reimbursement. Pixie only used it twice and I probably am at a break even on her. Knock on wood, I haven't used it. It runs 22.00 a month each and I just like the peace of mind having it. I just submitted Cali's 550.00 in bills and should get back around 300.00. |
PetPlan USA I purchased PetPlan Petplan Pet Insurance for Dogs and Cats over the internet for Oliver & Charlie. They have WONDERFUL customer service and have been great about processing claims VERY quickly. I got it primarily to cover any unexpected issue that comes up -- although they have paid for a number of small things too (i.e. baby teeth extractions). My little Willy that I lost a few years ago had to have emergency gall bladder surgery and spent 4 nights in ICU. That quickly added up to over $8000 in vet care. I wasn't that good about having that much saved in a puppy emergency fund I have to admit, so that was hard. I'm really happy tho with Pet Plan so far! There is another site a lot of the insurance is rated by customers Pet Insurance Review. |
