what is the difference between teapot and teacup yorkies? I have never seen the term teapot yorkies before this board, so what is the difference? |
teapot yorkies :D i think teapot yorkies are slightly bigger :aimeeyork but i am not certain , love jill n poppy xx :animal-pa |
The way I interpret it is that teacup Yorkies weigh less than breed standard and teapot Yorkies weigh more than the standard. Of course, I may be wrong, but that's my interpretation. |
About 5 lbs or more difference. Teacups are 3 lbs and under, teapots are about 8 lbs or more. And actually there is no true definition of each. There really is no such thing as a teacup. Teapot is a term we came up with on here for larger yorkies |
The term Teapot started around here as a joke...because if you've been around here long enough, you know what a loaded term "teacup" is..no such thing as a teacup yorkie, etc,etc... I don't know who started it, but Teapot quickly became part of YorkieTalk slanguage! |

Weight and size..Personality- no difference... |
I think that our little guy is working on teapot status...just more of him to love! |

As I'm sure you all know both are just endearing terms; no such thing as either. Just the breed standard of not to exceed 7 pounds. |

Puddin' is 14 weeks and already more than 4 lbs. I'm pretty sure we have an incipient teapot on our hands! |
I love my "teapot!" Jackson is about 13 pounds at almost 6 months old. More to love! And less to worry about. |
I love this post, On here was the 1st time I have heard of Teapot, I love it. It is too cute, I have a friend that has a yorkie that is about 8 + lbs and I had to call her and let her know that she had a teapot not teacup. She thought it was funny!! |

I think that you are exactly right! The term teacup is something used so often... and usually not for good reasons.... many breeders use this term to price boost. The AKC does not acknowledge the term teacup. Thence the "teapot" term used here on YT jokingly. (for above standard size Yorkies). |
