Removing the tape from puppy's ears. Help! I just adopted my little yorkie puppy a couple of days ago. The foster mom taped his ears before I picked him up because she said one of his ears was drooping. She told me to remove the tape in a couple days. I started to remove the tape, but it is so stuck to the fur on his ears. Is there something I can put on the tape to remove the stickiness that will not harm him? Poor little guy. |
In the past I raised two doberman puppies. We had to tape their ears. I'd put some vaseline under the part that was raised and try to slide it up on the sticky stuff. It helped some. Just go slow and try not to bend the ear as it will break the cartilage that's strengthened to hold the ear up. Good Luck. |
I would suggest using a baby oil soaked q-tip and rub it under the tape while gently pulling it off. The baby oil loosens the glue without pulling out the hair. GOOD LUCK! :) |
Thank you all for your advise. I did get the tape off. It was slow going, but I put a little bit of Dawn soap on a q-tip and a little bit of water, and slowly worked it under and around the edges of the tape. He is a happy little guy now and although I would never recommend anyone putting medical tape on a puppies ears, it did seem to work. |
