OMG.....Squirt will have to be called Rambo now! This morning when I let my new rescue Yorkie out, he decided to get out and get in the yard next door to beat up on the big guys!!! I gave him a bath last night and he looked so pretty. The guys that mow my lawn also came last night and they broke my chain link gate (well actually the bottom pipe had come loose leaving a gap). I heard my other dogs, Skipper and Toby, having fits and went to check and saw Squirt/Rambo romping in the foot tall grass next door giving those big dogs fits. I swear he was chasing them around and acting like he was going to tear them up!! They were running from him. So he came in soaking wet, head to toe, with grass and weeds all over him.....Grrrrrr. Anyway, I'm lucky he didn't get hurt. I fixed the gate and will be having a word with the lawn guys. Now........about the dogs next door. The people that lived there have moved and left those two dogs behind. I've been taking care of them for a few days, but I'm not sure what to do about them. The grass is over a foot high, and I can't afford to be taking care of two big dogs, in addition to my 3 dogs, cat, and 14 parrots. I hate to have to call the animal control, but I'm not sure what else to do. They are mother and son, and while the son is really friendly and could maybe be adopted, the mother is too scared of people and I'm afraid she would be put down. :( |
ohh...so sad :( My friend works in property management and I can't believe how common it is for some people who move out of rental houses to just leave their pets behind. j It's soooo funny how brave our little yorkies are :) |
That is so sad how someone could just leave their dogs!!!! |
My gosh I have never heard of such a thing. People moving and leaving there pets behind. That alfull. They don't have a caring bone in there bodies. Just horible. Thank you for feeding those dogs... poor things. |
Oh wow - how cruel of them to do that - there is a PLACE for people like that and I really hope it's as bad as we think ! |
That is so sad. |
This is a small city and we don't have an actual animal control here. But I was told if I call the city hall, they have one policeman that acts as animal control and they will take them to the local no-kill shelter to be adopted out. I have put in a call and that man is supposed to call me. They will have a hard time catching the mama dog though. I think I'm the only person she likes and that's cause I always hand her treats over the fence. I can pet her nose, but I don't think I can catch her either. And they have a HUGE yard! |
What a sad story. Who owns the property? Are you sure they are not coming back for them? Did you talk to thwem before they left? What kind of dogs are they? |

I talked to the renters 4 days ago and they said they were coming to get them that night. They only took one dog and left the other two. And they took up all the bowls and their water and stuff. The person who owns the house is going to move back in.....I talked to her and she said she doesn't want them. When the owner has been over there cleaning up they've been leaving the gate open........I think hoping they'll run away, but if they go anywhere it will be to my house. I kinda doubt they will leave the yard. They haven't yet. |
It's funny how your other two dogs were like telling on him. Glad he was ok. It is so sad the people don't care about there pets and just leave them. Be glad they didn't take them. No telling what would happen to them. Lucky that you are taking care of them and are going to do the right thing. I hope they find a home as caring as the members on YT. |
Wow, your little one is a tough one huh, chasing the big dogs. Im glad he didnt got hurt.I guess he will be getting another bath huh. ;) Regarding your neighbor abandoning the dogs, that is awful. I dont know how some people can do that. I hope the animal control person contacts you soon and the doggies get adopted to a great family. You are awesome for caring for them so far. |
I'm glad you called. Atleast they'll have a chance at a new home. |
That's so sad..How could someone just leave their dog |
I am really glad you called. Only bad things can come, usually, when animals are left to fend for themselves. My grandparents, who live out in the country, had a neighbor that moved out and left all there animals behind. I believe there were 10-12 cats, 4-5 dogs, a mule, and a goat left behind. One of the cats came down to my grandparents house and they fed and kept her for many years. The other cats went while. The mule and goat were picked up by other neighbors, but when someone went to get the dogs they had all run off into the woods. Being they the dogs weren't fixed they formed a rather large pack and began traveling around killing peoples animals until finally the neighbors had to get together and go take care of them. So I'm very glad you didn't allow these dogs to just go off on there own. I also have a little rambo. It's pretty cute how fearless they are except it's gonna give me a heart attach |
This................ Is really sad :( I get sooo very angry when someone in are neighborhood does this, and it happens alot were I live  What else can You do these people just left Them. You have to call Your local ascp.So at least They can try to locate the people and press charges on them. And They will if the people put in for a change of address or something.Did You ever talk too Them,Did They say where They are going ? Poor babies,How terriable and I know how You feel believe Me it happens here way to much.As a matter of fact yesterday' two mixed pitbulls that live down the way run the streets all the time and They were chasing kids all day and the stupid people that owns Them just sit back and watch !! Until a poor kid gets hurt but then it is to late.I can't even walk My babies for all the poor stranded dogs taht We have over here!! Sorry to hear this,Tami |
We don't have a Humane Society here. The police come and get them and take them to this really crappy make-shift shelter (unless they're vicious). At least it's a no-kill shelter, but I've seen some nasty things out there. A lot of their animals are sick, they don't give them shots or neuter.......they adopt dogs at 10.00 ea. cats at 5.00. If it's a full bred dog they get 25.00. And that's all her money, cause she gets the food donated from the local Walmart. As far as the veterinary, you're on your own. I've been talking to several rescue agencies around here, and they have been trying for years to get a real Humane Society in this county. Some of these rescue people claim to have seen dogs feeding on dead cats and puppies, etc. I've only been there once when I was looking for a kitten, but all their cats looked sick so I went elsewhere. I did take a look in their kennel and it was pretty nasty. Plus they also had a lot of dogs and all the cats just running loose. Story is the people who started the hospital and some other things (name Bartlett) were rich and they left a bunch of money in trust to start a shelter, but the county commission and other officials are pretty mum about it. No one seems to know what happened to the money and it ticks me off. One of the reasons why Creek Co. is sometimes to referred to as Crook Co.......crooked politicians! I'm waiting for the police to get here now, and I'm feeling pretty sad. I've been out to give them treats. I'm so afraid the timid mother will try to attack them when they try to catch her. The young male is pretty friendly so I doubt he'll be a problem. :( |
I appreciate you people letting me vent here. :) I just got a call from the police and they are sending a fireman out this afternoon. ???? |

You know...its against Animal Cruelty Laws to abandon your animals...I'm sure there is a record of who lived there. They ought to hunt them down ...lets see how much time and money those heartless sociapaths have saved when they see the lawyer bills.....it would have been kinder and easier to find them a suitable home. Francie |

Oh, and the owner of the property is a relative of theirs, and I doubt she would give me the information to persue it. (although she is pretty PO'd at the way they left her house) |
OK......yesterday came and went and the police still hasn't came and gotten the dogs. I called this morning and he said he would try to get someone out here today. Last night the teenage boy that lived there came by with a truck and got some stuff out of their shed. He said he wanted the young black dog and I told him to take him then, cause I didn't know when the police would come to pick up the dogs. Evidentally his parents didn't want that dog and he said he was trying to find someone to keep him for him. But again he left without taking the dog, or giving me any information. :( I'm at my wits end worrying about these dogs. I guess I should just let them be, but I can't stand knowing that no one is feeding them, so I keep on feeding and giving them water. My mom keeps telling me to ignore them, but I just can't do it. I live in a house behind my mom's house and when I go out my front door they're right there at the fence waiting for me to give them something. They know they have abandoned and that I'm the only one they can depend on. ARRRGGGG!! |
