Like I really care what people think. My boss told me I was crazy today, because of the way I treat my pets. My pets are family members and that is that. I don't really care what he thinks. He said a vet told him that an animal is an animal, I think I would be changing vets. I like my animals better than most of the people I have to deal with.:D Here are babies

What the heck is that supposed to mean? An animal is an animal -- well I guess that is so, a human being is a human being and a jackass is a jackass. Maybe he can figure where in there is belongs.

I never really understood people wanting to treat pets like family, until I had my own. It is not a feeling that can be easily explained. They give so much more than they expect from us. Unconditional trust and love -- worth quite alot! They are also capable of so much more understanding and thought process than I ever realized. Once you see them figure things out, play us like a violin, and display so much intelligence it is hard to think of them as merely "animals." Or maybe it is that "animals" have elevated in status since I have seen what it really means to be an animal. Another factor would be that human beings are really animals too, by some definitions such as: " a living organism characterized by voluntary movement." So, we are all a lot closer than some think.

But don't worry -- until that guy experiences it for himself, he will never understand and thta is his loss.

:twocents:Here's my 2 cents...Your boss is nuts!! I like animals better than most people too !! Animals do not gossip behind your back, stab you in the back, belittle you when you ask them for their help,, say mean things to your face, degrade you in front of others, and say stupid things just like your boss just did to you!!....:p:p:p That said, Your furbabies are beautiful and I would have pics of mine all over my desk to!!:D

I do believe if a vet ever looked at me and said, "an animal is an animal" I would change vets - immediately. IMO part of being a good vet is understanding the relationship that particular pet and his/her owner have.

As far as anyone thinking you are crazy, WELCOME TO THE CLUB! :p I learned very quickly to grow a thick skin and not give a rat's behind what anyone thought of the way I treat my "animals". My babies are cleaner, and have better manners than most of them anyway. lol

You are not the one that is crazy, your boss is! Our pets are our babies. Our bosses and co-workers feel the same as we do. Your boss' vet sounds like a real jerk with no compassion IMO.

Everyone at my job thinks I'm crazy for caring enough to be a foster mom and volunteering for a rescue. But let me add that I'm the only female & the oldest that works here. Not only do they think I'm crazy at my job but my in-laws think I am too. But great news....I don't really care what they think. If my job were to lay me off today...I would probably never hear from them again and I have a great relationship with them all. And my in-laws...I do a whole lot of things that they don't agree with or like. But my animals will be there no matter what happens. And yes, they are my family too!!

Because they think I'm crazy doesn't keep me from telling them about my babies or one that I'm fostering or off to rescue. I even tell them that I'm taking a day of vacation to take one to get spayed or neutered. No telling what they say when I leave but who cares....I love what I do and I love my furbabies!!! :rolleyes:

I just knew everyone here would agree with me. I think its my babies at home that keep me from going crazy. And yes I have pictures for all my kids all over at work. (skinkids, furkids and featherkid) :D

Call me CRAZY too!!! :rollingey I can live with that. Just remember what I have learned through the years. People who mean nothing to you can't hurt you. If you care what they think than it hurts. Your choice!!
