ARGH! Chewy pees when excited... Both pups are doing great with using pee pads and have very few accidents. But I've noticed that Chewy pees everywhere when he's excited. My dad came over the other day and Chewy peed at least 5 times while they were coming in the house. It's usually just dribbles, but sometimes it can be more. My question...will a belly band help with this? How would that affect our pee pad training? Would I just take it off many times to give him the opportunity to use the pee pad? Please help, my rugs are suffering! LOL! :p I don't wanna have to shampoo them daily to keep the smell away.:animal36 |
roxie does this sometimes too. i call it sprinkling because it's not like a full blown pee. just enough to have to clean it up. some have suggested to take them outside before company comes over. one thing i learned was not to pay attention to her right away when i come home. wait a couple of mins before talking to him and tell your guests to do the same. explain that he gets so excited to see them that it makes him pee. hope this helps. |
Good advice ther from Roxies Mom!! If it makes you feel better, this is usually only a short term problem!! It is rare when dogs reach maturity. |
Millie did this too when she was younger, and when I was speaking to a vet about getting her spayed, she suggested it would be a good idea to wait until she was past this stage as she may be more prone to incontinence if she was spayed too early while still doing this. |
Thanks a bunch guys! I've never experienced this with a pup before, so I'm clueless. It's good to know he may grow out of it. :) I'll try the advice given & suggest my guests do the same to see if that helps. I know it doesn't matter if he's just pottied or not, he'll do it either way (it's just a lot less 'sprinkling" if he's just pottied). He hasn't been neutered yet as we prefer to wait until they are 6 months old. Hopefully he'll be out of that by then b/c we will have to nueter him since we have his sister in the house as well...don't wany any surprises! |
My vet's wife calls it "happy water". JoJo does this when my daughter or granddaughter come in. They were the ones that went to the breeders when he was a baby and picked him out for me. JoJo has been neutered and it didn't help. Doesn't matter if he has just been to the potty or not. What a welcome greeting for them! |
