Head says male but heart says female As my search for a new pup begins, I am still very undecided as to which sex I want. I thought male so that I couldnt compare it to Millie but I am a bit concerned about the smelly bellies & the marking. I am also undecided as to whether to neuter/spay next time, so at least with a male its less of an ordeal than for the female. I would also like a second one of the opposite sex in the future (obviously having to have one of them spayed/neutered). Does it make any difference which is the new one? I was thinking the male might be more inclined to mark if a female pup is brought in, whereas if the female has been there and the male has grown up with the female, it might not be as territorial. I am waiting on a breeder to give me a ring to view 2 male pups she has in the next week or two. |
Decisions, decisions. LOL I went out looking for a girl, my very first female and came home with a male, again. I guess I just loves the males never owning a female. My males have never marked in my home. Buddy was neutered at six months. I wouldn't want a male who marked in my home. Thank heavens he dosen't. That must be hard to deal with. I want to wish you good luck. You'll know the pup when you see it, be male or female. I am so sorry about Millie. I am glad your looking for another to love and to fill the void in your heart. Hugs, Hugs, |
My little Genghis has been pretty good up till about 5.5 months then he started humping everything! This pretty much made up our minds about altering him. I had him altered yesterday and he is still recovering, we'll see what happens in a few weeks when I can bring him to the doggie park again. He wasn't that hard to potty train, though he has an occasional accident, but I think he was trying to get outside as it was pretty close to the doggie door. |
I am happy to see you looking for another baby to love. I had males when I first got in to yorkies a long time ago but we had problems with them marking. They were very sweet and back then we didn' t neuter them (not dire why). I have 3 females and they have their little spats but really get along great. |
When I decided to get a dog I was not concerned with boy or girl I just knew I would know when I saw it......and I did took one look at him and he stole my heart, and has had it ever since. |
Same here. I started out to get a female and then saw Luckys little face and fell in love right then. He looked like a fluffy Teddy Bear. I would'nt take a million dollars for him and he is soooo loveable. :) |
they both have yings and yangs it's all in what you are wiiling to deal with. Go for temperment not sex is my vote every time unless u plan to breed. |
