New Member and Puppy's first haircut l'm new to Yorkie talk and need advice on haircuts. My 7 month old will get her firstone Thursday and I don't know how to have it cut. I want her to still look cute, I hear about puppy cuts. What are they (how long, etc) Also I've seen some posts about letting the silver hair come through, does the hair change once they get it cut? I don't want to have the show dog length hair, but I didn't realize there were choices to make. Any suggestions or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
I have Marley get a "puppy cut" only because my husband hated the pink bow they put in her hair when they groomed her. I have noticed that since the top knot was cut that she is alot happier. She used to scratch at it. But that is not the case with all yorkies. Some love getting primped and pampered, others just rather live the simple life. I looked at pictures online and printed one off to give to the groomer so she would have an idea. Hope that helps. |
1 Attachment(s) Hi! :wavey: :welcome4: :yorkiesar Although I'd love to have the long flowing coat of a show Yorkie, real life just doesn't make that possible. So Puppy Cuts have become our best friend. :p With Gracie Ruth, I have her cut to a 1" length. This make it long enough that she still has hair but short enough to comb out quick and easy each night. I have them leave her topknot & the hair on her ears and on the bridge of her nose alone tho. Attachment 271632 |
I also keep Murfee cut short....but I do it myself. I took him once to a groomer but didn't like leaving him or the way they cut his hair. Good luck. |

I totally agree!! I'm letting Daizy and Tulips face grow out but keeping their body hair shorter...It all just depends on what you like personally... And there are ALOT of choices!!! Make sure to post pics!! |
Hello & Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Puppy cuts are really cute, they make the face area look super-cute. I like to leave the body at a medium length. The ears should get trimmed too. Hope to see pictures soon! :) |
