Not That There's Anything Wrong With That My DH and I are having a huge disagreement about our boy Sully. When I take him to his first professional grooming this weekend - I want him to get a bow. DH is FREAKING out and saying "Real boys do NOT wear bows!" I didn't even thing he cared either way... I told him I'd get a black or blue bow cause he's a boy. He is absolutely against it and is really wigging out about it! I mean really, it's not like having a bow will make Sully "gay" (not that there's anything wrong with that - I have several gay friends). I told him now that Sully has been neutered - he's more like a "metro-sexual" and that bow's are for boys and girls in yorkie-world. He's banning a bow and swears if he comes home with one he'll take it out - he said it's bad enough I had Sully's "junk" removed - now I want to dress him up like a girl too. I guess it's a guy thing. Has anyone else run into this domestic dispute about their "boy dogs"? |
Steven Siegal wears a ponytail. I have four....1 female 3 males...the only one without a topknot is Reese. He has floppy ears and I think looks pretty silly with his hair up. The other day hubby said...Reese had a screwed up haircut....cause his hair was NOT up. Buy some manly man bows....so just use grooming bands. |
O yes we get into all the time about the bows finally I just gave up. I am the one that take Tobie to the groomers, he doesn't, so I have them but in the bow and when daddy comes home he doesn't like it but there is nothing he can do about it! Trying to explain to a guy that its a "yorkie thing" for boys wear bows is a hard concept for them to understand. What can I say MEN! |

we have 2 boys and my husband wants no bows for them too. I showed him a picture from a yorkie owned by an YT-member which has braids. It looks so cute. Our two boys have thick hair and if it is longer I will make braids on them. My husband smiled. :D |
When I had males I used dark color bows and my husband didn't like it but they are my dogs and it is my choice. Yorkies are meant to have bows!!! |
Yeah i have the same issues about the bows.My son says that boys don't wear bows.I tell him it's a yorkie thing and that romeo is the coolest boy he will ever see in a bow so just get use to it.Besides boys and men wear earrings and we don't say they aren't cool because of it.THE BOWS ARE HERE TO STAY...LOL... |
3 Attachment(s) Ill give you some pictures of Buddy with a bow. Hubby and all my family did not want me to put bows in his hair either so I left his hair down and let it grow and they all including DH said I needed to put it up. Try it it might work for you also. |
I think that placing the shades on gives the "manly" look :) very macho indeed ! |
Sam has a ponytail and were's a bow...I think it looks cute.. |
I personally opt for no bow in my little guy. I think hubby would be either laughing at Toby or removing any bows. |
Frankly, if Thor were a human, he'd probably be a dancing queen. :p Regardless, I keep Thor in a puppy cut and try to keep him in boy clothes. It's this constant internal conflict - part of me is sad that I can't make him wear adorable little dresses, and part of me knows I'd go broke buying outfits if I had a girl yorkie. Anyway, male yorkies show in a top knot just like the ladies. There are very manly bows out there if you want to go that route. I really don't get the whole male "omigod, you can't neuter my dog" thing. Even if a dog keeps his equipment, he'll be lucky to have sex even a few his enitre life. Do you want your dog to die a frustrated virgin?? |

I personally don't think anything of the boys wearing boys, it is a Yorkie Thang...but my husband does not allow it. He lets me dress Carley to my hearts content and will carry her around all decked out, but no bows on Cooper ever! It's not a big deal to me either way. |
