Introducing Oliver 3 Attachment(s) Oliver is home!!! Overall, he is doing quite well. He did ok with the looooong trip home last night.. didn't arrive home until nearly midnight. I did find out that he has a very mild case of luxating patella.. I do wish they had told me that prior to my falling in love with him, but if it's mild we can manage it. I'll be taking him to my vet next week to see what I need to do, if anything. He is a sweet, playful, happy little guy. He is quite confused, but has bonded with me very well. I felt bad for his foster mom, she got quite emotional because he truly is an awesome dog. She had him for 9 weeks and he already knows sit, lay down, spin, shake paw, drop it, outside, and he rings a bell to go outside. He hasn't started doing that yet here, but we'll get him back there. It feels a little odd having a dog this small, I know 9 pounds is big for a yorkie but he feels sooo tiny! Because of the luxating patella, he will sleep in a crate permanently. I wanted him to sleep with me, but I do not want him jumping down from the bed. He came from a puppy mill in Quebec. He was kept in a garage, in a small cage, with other cages stacked above and below him. It makes me so sad to think of all he's gone through, and so grateful to see how much he has bounced back from that horrible start. He may be a rescue, but I think I am the lucky one... He is amazingly smart and sweet, and I just love him to pieces already. I hope I can give him the kind of life that he so deserves. |
awww Im so happy Oliver found a wonderful forever home!! Congrats:D:D |
:wavey: Hello Oliver. He's cute. It look's like he'll adjust & make a great companion. Best of Luck. |
He's precious and so lucky to have you for his own forever! |
Congrats on your rescue. I am mom to five rescues. Beans was my last and is my last. LOL. He came to me after losing my 17 month old Yorkie to a brain abnormalty. Beans like your guy was living in a small cage. For him it was a 9x12 plastic carrier. He was six months when we took him. He's now a year old. Like you I feel like he rescued me. I had been so depressed over losing my Jersey and found Beans completely by fate. My Tia has LP but she still sleeps with me. We have a big stuffed chair she climbs onto before climbing onto the floor. They are pretty smart like that. You can even put a little ramp from bed to floor. Since he lives so long in a cage just my personal oppinion I would not ever put him in a crate. That's just my opinion. I know for Beans when we got him he never again went into the crate or cage. It was too tramatic for him. Good Luck. Elaine |
