Yorkies and Saint Bernards! My uncle and aunt just purchased a Saint Bernard. He is currently, I believe, 11 weeks or 12 weeks old and is around 25-30 pounds already! He gains 1 pound per day. We want to get my 1 year old, 4 pound Yorkshire (Bella) acquainted with Buddah (the St. Bernard). What is the proper way to go about this? Do I keep her or him leashed or let them run rampant with each other? Bella is VERY playful, not nippy at all, Buddah is very laid back and lazy. The worry is maybe his sheer strength he has at his young age and Bella's lack of such. His paw is basically the size of her head at this point, plus if he may nip at her, he's a new dog and we really have no clue how he'd react to a new dog. What are the proper ways to introduce this new dog to both parties involved? THANKS! |

My daughter has a 110 lab/boxer mix he is very gentle too however , just be very careful puppies love to jump up and play, her dog is so gentle with Laci but he is also clumsey and I am so scared he will jump up and land on her back!! |

We had St Bernard's at one time. They can be kinda clutsie, but yorkies move so fast I doubt there will be a problem. It's my guess they will be fine together. Being little & super fast has it's advantages. Roxy could be across 2 rooms & back while a St Bernard is still just thinking about moving. :D Hope it goes well for you! |

Yorkies have no idea they are small. That being said, I think my little guy would want to play with any sized dog, and if that big dog wants to play back, I would be concerned about an accident. I would introduce them on the leash just to be safe. |

Bella is with him right now. She is very cautious and scared, which is wierd because she was okay around a 160lb dog. She keeps cowring away. Will they eventaully get used to each other or will she always be scared? |

I got my great pyrenees as a puppy when my toy poodle was 7 yoa. They did get together, he was laid back and careful with her. Plus he was so clumsy and slow she ran circles around him. I think as long as you supervise they will be fine and have great fun!!!:) Can't wait to see the pictures! |
