Anyone with FHO experience How long did it take your baby to start wanting to use their leg? not fully on 4, but even just trying to use it? |
They have them start immediately. Of course, they don't immediately put weight on it, you carry them to potty and such, but they are not bandaged up so they can use it. They start dropping that foot down and gradually use it more and more, but they do start right away. Is this what you are asking? |
You might want to post this in the sick and injured section. There's usually someone who posts pretty quickly there. :) |
lol I take that back. |
haha thank you guys for your replies... What I mean was, I know right away they don't use the leg...and I have had to carry her, but I was wondering how long it took anyone's pup to start wanting to put weight on it and walk normal?? |
My fosters have all used the leg pretty much right away.....of course not full weight....but they were mobile..... How long has it been since she had the surgery? And how old and how much does she weigh? One of my fosters who was bigger took longer to use the leg....but Emerson who weighs 4lbs was using his leg right away.....he was putting some pressure the day I took him home....but not a lot....I did not have to carry him...only up and down stairs....I gated him when I was gone because he was very mobile.....he has had both down at seperate times..... |
she is 11 months/8lbs...it has been about a week and a half almost since the surgery she is very mobile...just on 3 legs sigh...I am doing the therapy as instructed...just anxious for her to start bearing weight on the leg and not letting it just hang there :( |
isn't it so nerve-wracking?? Once she sees she can use it some, you will see amazing progress. Has she been back for a check up yet? Really, she will start to use it and then progress is really fast, or at least it was here. You don't want her to do too much too soon anyway. |
