This guy was in terrible shape (matted, ticks, burrs) and skinny as a rail when my sister found him running out in the country where she lived. She thought he would make a good dog for mom, but he's too young and active to suit her, so he's now with me and my two dogs.

We took him straight to the vet (the works) and then to the groomers and he's putting on weight and seems to be coming along really well. He was scared to death when we got him. I'm sure he had been abused, vet said he had a broken femur that had healed on it's own, so he has a slight limp, but he said it wouldn't be any problem.

Anyway the vet and groomer said he was a yorkie, but I'm wondering if it might be a silkey. He was 6 lbs. when I got him and now he's up to about 7.4 lbs. and stands about 9 in. at the shoulder. The groomer had to cut a lot of his hair, but it's starting to grow out.

So what do you think, Yorkie or Silkey?

Looks like a yorkie to me. He is a real doll regardless. He is very lucky to have you.

Looks like a Yorkie to me too. Indy is 6 months old and weighs 9lbs. Your guy is adorable! He's lucky to have found you.

He looks all yorkie to me. Silkys are larger and there snouts are longer.

He's a Yorkie, Silky Terriers are longer and leaner. He has a typical yorkie body. Cute as a button. Thank you for rescuing this little angel.

awe, he is a cutie! What did you name him? He looks like a yorkie to me. But I really dont see the difference. I went to petsmart and this lady had a silky. She was still a puppy, but she looked like a yorkie to me. This little guy is so lucky he found a good home!

Looks like a yorkie to me also. He is a cutie. He is very lucky that you took him in and he dosen't have to worry about be scared, lonely, hurt or hungry anymore.

Thanks everyone......I'm just crazy about him and he loves to play with my dogs Skipper (Pom/spitz) and Toby (terrier mix).

I've been calling him Squirt, but since he seems to think he's so big I've been thinking about a more macho name........like Rambo or Rocky.

This looks very much like the puppies produced by millers when they use a Silkie mom and a small Yoorkie dad to produce more puppies in a litter and so they don't have to spend money on c-sections.
No matter what he is, he is a sweet boy. I am so glad he found y'all.

Looks all Yorkie to me,,,how sweet,,,, BUt... why cant I find a Yorkie just wonderin' around looking for a home,,, I looked forever and I had the money! LOL..... Glad he found a good home,,, they ALL deserve it. ;)

I was considering that might be the case as well. He is a very sweet boy and it really doesn't matter, but I was just curious. :)

Actually, it was hard to tell it was Yorkie at first.....he was all matted, had burrs and a TON of seed ticks on him. He cleaned up fairly nicely though.

I can't wait for his top knot to grow out.......I have already bought him lots of bows and little barrettes. :)

Kudos to you for taking him in. How old did the vet estimate him to be?
Gla to hear that he is making progress and doing well.
I wonder how long he was on his own for? And surprised that he made it.

Vet guessed him to be 8-10 mo. old. My sister found out about him from a guy up the road who was the head of the volunteer fire dept.......seemed he had roamed around and lived (if you wanna call it that) at various places up and down the road. Some people threw out food to him, but he was never brought inside. The guy up the road took him and put him in a dog pen like he kept his hunting dogs in. He didn't want the dog, so he gave her to Linda (my sister).

He was barely 6 lbs. and the vet said he should be at least 8 lbs. He had worms, but we took care of that. Last time I had him to the vet a couple of weeks ago(to have his stitches out after being neutered), he was up to almost 7-1/2. I doubt he'll get much heaver than 8 lbs. really. You can't feel his ribs anymore, but he does have a really boney back bone and hip bones. I'm wondering if that's gonna fill out?

Funny you should say that......Lucky was the name my sister put down for him at the vet. Didn't really stick though.

Looks like a Yorkie!!!! I'm glad someone like you got him. No more hurtin, hungry,lonely days for him. I think Lucky would have been a great name for him as well. But, whatever name you choose will be the best for him. Good luck to you and your new baby and i hope everything turns out great for you!!!!
