Ethan and the water
 
I was wondering if it is normal for yorkies not to like getting wet? For instance, Ethan hates baths and when it rains he refuses to go outside, that's a problem because I'm tying to house break him. Now, he'll sit watch and wait for me to get out of the shower and even jumps on th side of the tub; but if thinks he has the take a bath, he heads under the bed; and when he does get a bath he is rolling and rubbing across the carpet or anything for that matter. What's his deal, is this normal behavior?

Yes, mine run and rub themselves "dry" after a bath or being out in the rain. lol. they really get going when esp. when their faces are wet. The baths will get easier. Hot Rod only tries to get out maybe every other bath now (18 mos old). Maggie doesn't mind baths but I think she would prefer not have to take them. lol. Maggie doesn't mind the rain as I put a hood on her but Hot Rod doesn't like a hood on him nor rain, so it's really a coaxing thing to get him to go out in the rain, like today here.

Cash used to dislike water too. He would sulk and ignore me when I give him a bath (he also used to hide). But then, this summer, he started swimming in my parents' pool. He has now enjoyed the ocean, rivers, many pools, canals. He is better with baths now (when I ran his bath yesterday and got out my kit (I am such a mom:rolleyes:), he came to me!) and doesn't seem to care about the rain.
But then again, Cash is an Africa yorkie... Not afraid of anything!!

What I find so odd is that Gracie Ruth loves water of any kind, except bath water. Rain, puddles, lawn sprinklers...just not warm soothing water, combined with a gentle massage. :rolleyes: And she too, loves to run around like a mad dog rubbing herself on everything afterwards. :D

Here she is last summer after running through and attacking the sprinkler.

Tobie loves water but I have had a dog that hated water so I think its normal.

Some dogs hate it and some kinda like it
Mine HATE their baths :confused:
When I have one in the bath the other is running around the house barking i n protest
because he knows he's next :rolleyes:

My dachshunds REFUSE to go outside when its raining, they hate getting muddy, and they are OK for bath time, however, FIona, she is the total opposite! she loves being outside, getting wet, or playing in the mud, however, you would think i'm totally abusing her when it comes to bath time, she hates it! :D But, yes it is pretty normal for dogs to not like the rain or even not want to go outside it in, with my doxies, i had to teach them to hurry up and go potty when its raining out!
