I am so sorry for your loss. They become our lives and fill our hearts. God must really love have Yorkies by his side. He has called so many of our babies home lately.

Thank you all for your kind words. I just cant stop thinking of her and crying. There is a part of me missing now. And its so hard not to be thinking of the "what ifs". She was seen by different vets on Sunday and Monday night, and while they were concern by the lack of progress, they did not think she would die. They are very shocked to hear our news.

To add salt to the wound, because our insurance doesnt cover elective surgery such as spay, they will not cover any complications that have arisen from it.

At this stage I cant decide if I want another pup. While there was all the love and happiness Millie brought me, and I think another pup would help me through, I feel like I would be betraying her memory in that she could be so easily replaced. She cant be replaced. She had her own personality, her own mannerism and her own wee ways of going about things, and that is what I will miss. I will miss the tremendous wag of the tail we got when we came into the house. The feeling of her snuggled up beside me in the morning. Her reaction when I said "walk", and picked up her lead. None of it will be the same. She was our wee baby, and I cant think of anything else at the minute. I feel so empty.

As for getting another puppy, when the time is right for you, that could be a great thing to do. Millie will be in your heart forever and her memory you will carry with you as well so don't fear you would be betraying her in any way. Our little furbabies seem to live to make us happy and sweet little Millie would want you to be happy.

Honey I am just seeing this now.. and am so sorry for the loss of millie.. I have lost and know exactly how your feeling..
I do want to say tho that in my opinion only.. is that when getting a new baby it should/could be looked at like an honor to the lost one that you need them so bad that you need to have another baby to love..and not a betrayal... for she would want you to be happy and she of all would know the loving mom you were to her..Hope this helps you.. anne

Getting another puppy
 

As I've previously posted, my heart breaks for you...I know you are confused and sad and angry and feeling a mulitude of emotions...I believe you should just allow yourself to feel these emotions, knowing that in time you will begin to heal;taking one day at a time...Try not to focus on whether to get another puppy, right now, as you have enough, already, on your plate to deal with...As an older woman, and avid pet-lover, I've been through the joy of holding a new puppy, and the grief of holding them in their old age, at the end....I've been blessed that most of them have lived, relatively, full lives, although I did lose one mini-dachshund to mammary cancer @13, that was not spayed..Each time was different, and the circumstances in your life are different...Wait until you have healed from this pain of losing Millie...You will never forget her, but, as time goes by, your pain will ease up...My prayers are with you, and I'm already visualizing the day when you can talk w/us about the joy and love you had w/her, with out being in such pain...God bless you, and may He heal your heart in time....Lot of Love, from across the ocean...

Don't think about this yet, just grieve for Millie. I lost Tink this year, but I was lucky she had a full 16 years... The feeling of betrayal gets less and you may find you want another pup and it could be sooner than you think.
Often I still cry, I did when I came back from the breeder yesterday. But you will come to know that you are not replacing her (you never could), that you are moving on to have another pooch. All of those things you mention, I now look forward to experiencing with another dog in a different way than I did with my first Yorkie. She is still forever in my heart, never to be forgotten.
