Being Really BAD After Neutering ... It's been a week since Charlie got neutered. I thought they are supposed to calm down. He still humps my neighbor's dog and marks on walks. What's worse is that he's always been perfect with peeing and pooping. Never an accident, always does it on the wee wee pad. But he's been peeing and pooping EVERYWHERE ever since the surgery. Of the 20 times he went to the bathroom, only once he did it on the wee wee pad. He barks and runs around the house more than ever. It seems like he got a testosterone injection!!!!!!!! WHY IS THAT??? |
The vet told me when Tobie got neutered that it takes a couple of weeks for his hormones to get out and change. Tobie also peed and pooped alot after his surgery because of the anaesthesia getting out of his body. |
But did he poop and pee everywhere? Mine did and it's very rare. Mine have always known to use the wee wee pad ever since he came to us from the breeder. |
He did one day, I woke up to the strong smell of pee and got up and it was EVERYWHERE, on the bed cover, some clothes that were on the floor, some in the living room, in the bathroom and he hardly ever pees in the house he wakes us up to let us know when he wants out, I guess he could not hold it. |
Oh odd, maybe it's normal that they act like that after neutering ... how long did that last for you? |
He only peed everywhere once and now you would never even know that he has been neutered, he got neutured on Feb. 28th and he is about to be 2, I wait longer to get him neutured then I should have, But is was back to his old self about 2 weeks after, he still tries to hump other dogs but he can't remember what he is suppose to do. |
How old is Charlie? |
Bently didn't have any issues with peeing inside but he does still occassionaly try to hump other dogs. It's very rare. Good luck John |
When I did greyhound rescue the vet we took the dogs to told us it could take up to a month before the males stopped humping. |
We were a little worried about the possibility, but Nikko didn't have any kind of potty training relapse after his neutering. He did get a little extra feisty in the span of 2-8 days after his neuter though, but I'm guessing it's because we were told to attempt to keep him calm (yeah right), so we weren't taking him on his nice long walks during that time. If Nikko doesn't get his 30-45 min walk ever day, he'll get really feisty and bite-y and want to chew on things he shouldn't even if there are good chew toys nearby that he normally enjoys. His humping has diminished after the neuter though, and we're quite happy about that. The vet told us that testosterone takes a couple months or so to leave the system, and they actually can still impregnate girlie dogs for up to 11 days after the neuter! Lauren & Nikko |
Hot Rod was fine after his neutering other than being sleepy and groggy. He was in pain too because he had a lot of dental work done. He was neutered at 6 1/2 mos old. He used his pads and didn't mark. As for the humping, that is a dominance thing, nothing to do with being neutered. |
Thanks everyone! Im just so concerned at how bad Charlie's gotten. During walks, when he sees other dogs - he gets sooooo excited. Its not good because with time, that will turn into aggression. He;s usually NEVER excited when he sees other dogs. He now still pees everywhere. He doesnt even try sniffing the ground first (he used to do it to smell his wee wee pad)!! What is wrong with him??? Ugh!! And he barks! Ah I feel like Im back to square one and helpless. Zeus08, Charlie is now 7 months. |
Is he having incontinence issue after spaying? Perhaps talk to your vet see what he/she say? I hope it gets better for you. I have dogsit a dog that was having incontinence issue due to being spayed so I am wondering if its the same thing? |
Momo was humping (poor Mimi) more, marking everywhere & had diarrhea for two weeks. The vet said it takes a few weeks for the testosterone to leave his system & the runs was caused by stress from going through operation & being in the vet hosp overnight. He's a fine little gentleman now!:D |
My dog was neutered at 6 months he is now 4. The night I brought him home he peed all over my kitchen chair:confused:ever since then he marks!!! I got him at 10 weeks and until 6 months he always went on the pads NEVER an accident, so I don't know what in God's name happened. He still marks not a lot, but he does. Thank God I have wood floors! I thought I was the only one with this problem, I wish I knew why he would mark after neutering and not before. Very frustrating:( |
