Everyone seems to know this but me.. How in the world do you all take such cute pictures of your babies without their eyes going all green or white in the photo because of the flash???? I can't seem to figure out how to get more than a few really cute pictures of Lucas because his eyes always look scary hehe! |
do you have red eye reduction on your camera?! |
I either have Finnigan not look directly at the camera if I have the flash on or just have the flash off... the red eye doesnt help me at all... |
I just looked at most of my pics, and they have the green spot on her eyes too...oh well! they still look cute! :animal-pa |

Check your camera to see if it has red eye reduction. You could upload pics to photobucket and edit your pics or try to find free photo editing software online. |
Picnik.com has a redeye reduction tool for furbabies :) works just like human redeye reduction but for furbabies and its free. Just upload your picture use tool and save. |
It's funny you bring this up. I was thinking the same thing. Or how do you all capture the shots you do? Roxie just sees the camera come out and freaks out. When I do get a pic it looks like she's terrified. My camera does have red eye reduction so I'll have to figure out how to set it and see what happens. I have a hard time downloading them to the computer so they're not so big too. |
I get the green eyes sometimes but most of the time, my camera is very good. I have a Canon. |
This was just talked about last week. Green eyes = silky coat Here is a link to an article about eye shine that Nancy1999 posted and is very informative and will answer all of your questions. It really doesn't have anything to do with red eye reduction on your camera. Eye Shine |

The article was intended to explain how a dog's eye shine is related to coat types, and the genetics involved with that, but just as humans have a red eye effect that can be eliminated by the proper lighting, so can the eye flash of a dog. I was amazed when I tried the extra lighting with Joey's pictures, and all it took was one 60-watt bulb shined towards his face from over 6 feet away. As any actress knows, lighting is everything! |

The best thing you can do to get rid of red eye is to move the flash up away from the lense. If moving the flash up from the lens is not possible (as is the case with most cameras) it is best to use an alternate external form of lighting such as a lamp as well as having plenty of light in the room so the pupils are smaller thus reducing the amount of possible red eye. Hope this helps. |

I wonder if those who, unlike me, are careful shoppers for their dogs could tell something about coat type and color by snapping a digital photo of the puppies on the spot? |
I just take pictures with no flash on, and that works. |
