Another reason to avoid pet stores
 

So ive had marley for a week now. i bought her from a pet store here in japan where i am stationed.when i bought her they bathed her and get her ready for me but did not cut her hair so i took her back today to have her hair cut because it needed it i thought. Well i got her vaccines the day b4 this bc i thought that she was 6 months and was due for them. here is the load of bull crap that happened...i went there and the language barrier stinks so they had a person that spoke english help out.. turns out that she IS NOT 5 months goin on six...i looked at her papers the pet store had on her and it turns out her birthday is JULY 24! not october 25th like they had told me initially .. they also told me that her next vaccine wasnt due until december of 2009!!!! i was soooo P***ed at this point. if any one can tell me if getting the vaccine when she didnt need it is going to hurt her please tell me . she has been actin fine eating fine and she is very chipper and loving. I am just so upset . i dont know whether to blame it on the pet store or the language barrier. but stil. i am irrate, they never even showed me the vaccine papers when i bought her so i thought that i needed to get them immediately. gRrRr anyways.. just wanted to vent and find out if i could have done any harm to my now 8 MONTH OLD yorkie, i cant believe they cant even get a birthday right. my warning is make sure that you have alist of questions b4 you go to the petstore. i didnt know about puppy mills until i started reading on here after i bought her otherwise i would not have given the pet store my money. im not sure how pet stores here in japan get their dogs but i just caution people. Any one know about the vaccine stuff though? like i said she is acting fine , loving and eating good.

She sure is cute :p Considering that they couldn't even get a biethday correct, I would go on the assumption that she probably wasn't vaccinated at all.an issue as well. To me it sounds like she is just fine. If you would have known in advance there was any type of question about vaccines you could have had titers drawn but now we are talking about after the fact. If she is eating and acting normal there isn't any worry. :)

They showed me the vaccination certificates when they told me that her birthday was wrong. Thats why i was worried bc i was worried that i hard harmed her health by givingher that vaccine b4 it was needed. I wont be dealing with them anymore. I assumed she wasn't vaccinated either when i first bought her bc theyh never presented me with these papers that i was just recently showed. As long as she is acting ok and eating and healthy i wont worry! thank you for your input.

I am also in Misawa! Where did you get her? I bought Bella in Hachinohe and they gave me everything,shots records and papers. The language barrier is hard. You never know what they are saying and they dont know what you are asking..LOL

Her birthday was on her card, that can sometimes be confusing to figure out too. They write it backwards LOL

I got her at Shimoda mall. Yeah the language barrier stinks but they never gave me any papers. Its my first pet so i didnt know what to expect. They still have all the papers on her. I have gotten her chipped at the vet though here. Hopefully she will be fine, she isnt acting any differently! I think she speaks japanese though lol when they talked to her while they were cutting her hair she responded more to them ... lol i dont know :) your little one is a cutie too!

LOL...ok, so I think I was talking to you about the groomers. LOL

I remember seeing that yorkie at the Shimoda Mall. I also saw where you had posted where to find a yorkie and by the time I went to give some info on where they had them you had already purchased yours from Shimoda.
I wish I would have been able to get that info to you. There were 2 in Hachinohe. Of course they sell them young. Bella was 8 weeks when I bought her. They are at 2 different stores....I have heard horrible things about the dogs at Shimoda, and their customer service....
You did get a cutie though...when I saw her they had her hair up in a top knot....

Yea i still keep it in a top knot with a pink bow LoL i think it is you that im talkin to on the yahoo group. I wouldnt change a thing now that i have her. she is the sweetest dog that ive ever come across :) THanks for all the help though with a groomer. Im gonna try the on base lady.
