What do you do to keep your baby occupied? I work three days a week and the three days I am not home, I leave my baby in a doggie playpen with food, toys, water and wee wee pad for 7 hours at a time. The pen is great and big enough but not enough to raom the house like some doggies do. I feel bad b/c I see in my mind that he just lays there bored for 7 hours. I dont think he plays with his toys when he's in the pen. I did buy a Kong and this smart guy takes only 3 minutes to completely get all the treats out. What is there that I can get to keep the puppy occipied? Maybe not for 7 hours but def longer than 3 minutes!! |
Bullysticks keep them occupied for awhile. You could also put yogurt or peanut butter in the kong and freeze it and give it to him |

I leave the TV on National Geographic each time I step out. It's also good to walk the dog before you leave the house. |
Yea I do leave the TV on if I am gone long but do you think they really watch TV at all? Are Bully Sticks good for dogs because I know raw hides are really bad and my Charlie LOVES chewing on those. I'll try the frozen yogart on a Kong, but Im pretty sure he'll finish that right away as well. And aren't they messy? |
I put on the radio for my boys.... it seems to have made a HUGE difference with them! :) They stopped all the anxiety destruction and my neighbors stopped complaining of the barking during the day when Im not home. |
I sit and play with Buddy from 6:30 - 7 am giving him a 1/2hr of nothing but he and I. He is alone, with full run of our home for 9hrs. He get's walked 4x daily with a 15-25min walk each time. Again 1/2 hr after dinner playing. It's just he and I so my time is his. He's happy and content. He told me too:p |
Bently has a cat to pester all day while I'm gone.. The cat tried to pay me off to get rid of him but I didn't like catnip.. John |
I'm dealing with Sep Anxiety w/ Snickers and we got him a few new things. Petstages makes this cool capsule toy which you can fill and then close and the treats never come out! I put butterscotch chips in it and Snick will try to get his tounge in the little holes in it for a long time. It's rubber so a safe chew. I'm not sure bully sticks are safe while he is alone, a piece can always break off. Rawhide is def NOT safe ever, be careful so many dogs have choked on rawhide and also pieces have gotten stuck in doggies bodies. Bully sticks are 100% digestible, so much safer but maybe not when your pup is alone. We also leave music on, we wish Snick would nap, but he never does, just keeps waiting till we come home. Thank goodness my hubby comes home for lunch to give him an hour break in between. I always thought of hanging something from somewhere...he loves biting on things that are up higher than him. |
I haven't tried this myself, but I keep wanting to get one of those hide-a-squirrel toys. hide a squirrel toy - Google Product Search |
