Do you have nutrical or karyo syrup at home this way his blood sugar does not drop to low from throwing up. I am sorry I cant help you with the symptoms |

Oh wow mama! Poor Marley! I dont have an answer for you! But i hope he gets better REALLY soon!!!! |
I have Nutrical. Just did some looking around and it looks like Frontline has a side effect of making dogs vomit. Maybe he is sensitive to the Frontline? I dunno. This poor baby. I just want him to feel better. But I really can't afford going to the e-vet. I will if it comes to that but I'm due in June ( pregnant ) and am really trying to save money. Please keep little Marley in your prayers |
New member I just joined and wanted to say hi. ;):aimeeyork:animal36:rolleyes::cool: |
He is eating and drinking now. I didn't know if I should stop him or not, but he's so small I figure any food he can keep in is better than none? If he keeps it down for 20 - 30 minutes, I think we'll be ok. Its been about 7 since he started munching. Should I let him keep eating? |
I would let him keep eating, I think if he was feeling really sick he would show no interest in the food |
Ok, well he stopped eating and is playing now. Maybe he just felt yucky from all the medicine in his tiny body. Thanks for everyones advice and support today! Means alot. My husband is off on base and I'm here alone so, its nice to have people to lean on :-) |

keep her bedding away from any other fabrics...disinfect her whole living area. is Marley your only pet? If not keep them all separated to avoid cross contamination and having more problems. gosh i feel bad for you guys. please let us know how it goes. me personally i would dab peroxide on the open wounds. |
Best wishes to you and Marley. I give Bailey monthly Frontline and Interceptor - but I separate the doses by 48 hours.... You have a young one there - so no doubt, it was a big day for him. Welcome to YT!!! |
Aw poor baby! I just read this entire thread and I apparently missed what the little bugs were? What are they? |
Vet said they WERE fleas, they were just engorged. That's why they looked more like beatles. I had never seen one all fat like that. SOOOO, I'm vaccuming and putting bedding in plastic bags to wash in the morning and trying to keep everything clean. He sleeps with me...so I bought him a bed and put a towel in it so its covered and he can sleep next to me. I'll just have to vaccum my sheets every morning. She said it should kill them all by Sunday. Thanks ya'll! |
Heidi thank God that Marley has YOU in his little young life! soon this will all be behind you and you'll have a healthy little furbaby. Since you're due in June ( congratulations) are you gonna keep Marley? Just curious. welcome to YT! Glad you're here :D |
I will keep him, yes! I have rescued 2 of my other 3 dogs as well (my parents are watching them until my husbands training here is Texas is done so they don't have to move around too much). I have a huge heart for animals. Before I had gotten pregnant, my husband and I were nursing to health 4 guinea pigs, 5 rats - all of which we found homes for. And we also had my 3 puppies. My goal is to open an animal sanctuary out in Colorado in about 5 years once my husband is out of the Army. Thanks so much for the kind words of encouragment. Some people think I'm crazy with all of my animals - but it makes me feel good inside and, besides, someone has to love the ones that have gotten pushed aside, right? I'll be a mommy to a little girl (Lorelai Joy) and 4 puppies...oh and 2 bratty budgies :-). They are in love with eachother and would rather I just feed them and butt out. Heidi |
you're sound like my nephew who is 8 and we call Dr Doolittle. Animals find H-I-M and he's amazing with them. he wants to be a vet. he has snakes, gekos, hamsters, dogs, turtles and who knows what else!!!! :p Lorelai what a beautiful name! |
Congrads, my daughter is due anytime now, she is also having a girl. I have a 4 month old and she developed hypoglycemia shortly after I got her. She was playing with our other yorkie and over did it. She vomited and then became very lethargic. I gave her karo syrup and it took three hours before she was completely awake again, so please watch out for this, it happens fast and is very scary. Little ones are really prone to it. Just wanted to mention since Marley is so young and little and has been vomiting. Best of luck with your new little one:):):). |
Thanks for the warning, I'm watching him closely. Hard not to worry because he is all tuckered out. But, he's had a long day filled with things being poked up his butt, in his skin, pills forced down, throwing up. Its alot for a 6 weeks old little boy! But its been and hour and a half since he threw up last and then ate. So, I think we are ok. *Fingers Crossed* I'm just cleaning everything and covering the couch and his bed with white sheets so I can see if there are fleas on it. I can still see fleas on Marley but I understand it can take 18-24 hours to kill them. Then I still need to vaccum really well everyday to make sure we get the eggs and everything. |
please let us know tomorrow how he's doing. |
I know its early, but just checking in on the baby to see how his night went, and yours too. :D I hope it was restful |
:D I love ya'll!!! You're so sweet, even checking in with us this morning. Marley is doing better than great! He OBVIOUSLY feels much better! He had been very sleepy the last few days, and I thought it was just because he is so young. But after the worms passed and the fleas have started dying and falling off, he is the perkiest most playful little bundle of cuteness! He is bouncing around chasing my ankles this morning. And, this 6 week old little guy slept through the ENTIRE night and had NO accidents. He's amazing! Thanks for your help! I'll post some more pictures up in his picture thread later today. For now, I'm just being OCD trying to keep everything clean and vaccumed so he doesn't get fleas again! Heidi and a happy puppy! |
I'm so happy your little man is feeling better :) so much to go through for such a little guy. |
What an exciting thread this is! I keep coming back to read and see the updates. :D I am so glad he is doing better!:) We have budgies too, they are such fun. They are males, so they talk a lot. |
Oh bless! Do we have pics of him? Such a happy story. |
Just checking in, and glad to see that he is feeling so much better.:) |
Just wanted to let ya know I read the thread and I am so happy for Marley! You did a great job and it's awesome that those fleas and worms are gone! Congrats on your new baby. |
:bravo: to MarleysMom :bravo: Job Well Done!!:D |
I was checking in too! Way ta go Mom! Would it be ok to give Marley a bath in Dawn to get rid of the fleas sooner? |
Hey everyone -- Marley is doing very well! I see no fleas! (though I have been vacuuming dead ones off everything) I'm going to give him a bath today (was waiting since the Frontline needs time to stay on his skin). He has the scabs and crusty spots still which I'm going to start putting neosporin on per my vets recommendation. Thanks for everyone's support! I'll keep you updated. He has an appointment for his next shots on the 9th. Heidi |
Heidi, You are being such a good mother! I hope you call that foster mother and read her the riot act for letting Marley get/stay in that horid condition! The shelter ought to be advised too. Keep up the good work with that adorable little one! |
So happy to see that the little one is doing better! Keep up the good work!!:D |
I'm so glad that he's doing great! My furbaby had similar symptoms except she didn't had any scabes. . . . and it turned out to be LICE! But all is well now and she is getting treated! :D |
