Sleepy Puppy! So, Marley seems to sleep an awful lot! I know he is VERY young (5-6 weeks) and expect lots of sleeping. But, he sleeps for a few hours, then wakes up, gets a drink, pees, plays for maybe 5-10 minutes and then zonks out again. Could something be making him extra tired? Heidi |
I wouldn't worry about it! I think that when they are sleeping, they are growing! When I first got Chloe, she slept almost the entire day. She would play for a total of maybe 4-6 hours and then sleep the rest! She still sleeps quite a bit and she is 16 weeks tomorrow! |
6 weeks old is still very young. It would be very normal for him to sleep a lot. Gracie Ruth & Yogi were both 12 weeks old when I got them and even at that age they slept a good bit still. |
They are just like babies...eat poop and sleep!! :D They do sleep alot, it's fine. |
I know he is very young still. I usually don't get puppies until they are at least 10 weeks. When my Chihuahua had her litter, we didn't let him go to a new home until he was 14 weeks because of his size. Marley unfortunately was taken from his mother at 2 weeks. He definitely has separation issues. And he was covered in fleas, and ticks, and had worms. So, he was being depleted of his nutrients. I'm making his appointment today because...well I want to know he is ok :-) and stop worrying a little bit. But, I just get concerned he is sick or something when he sleeps so much. Thanks for your imput! |
Personally I doubt he is ill...he is a very young puppy and that's what they do at his age. Play some...sleep more. |
Enjoy it while you can. A few more weeks and all hecks going to break loose!! When Baxter hit about 12 weeks he went crazy. Didn't sleep at all. Now he's 15 months and sleeps more normally. |
