What do you do with a puppy yorkie during the day when you have to work? I dont have mines yet but just trying to be prepared |
mine stay in their xpen during the day. |
an xpen or crate. Just make sure they have adequate food and water... especially as a puppy. |
I am fortunate that I have been able to bring mine with me. He's sleeping in his little kennel by my feet right now, but when he's awake, he just runs around the office and plays. I bring toys from home and he's content. We've no problems so far. Tomorrow he will have to stay home, though because we have a meeting that will take up our entire day. I plan on putting up a baby gate so that he is confined to a safe place. |
I used to section off my apartment when Duke was younger. He now has more room to roam around since he is older. I would make sure that the electric cords and wires are out of their way once they start to teeth...and ofcourse puppy proof the area |
Tobie stays in his crate but only for 3 hours or less if I am gonna be gone longer he goes in the bathroom but I puppy proof everything before he goes in there. |
mine are sectioned off in the kitchen |
same here she has the kitchen to roam around and i put baby gates so she cannot leave it :) good luck |
My boyfriend just got let go from his job last month, so Fiona has been spoiled having him home, and not being crated. Before all that happened, she was in her crate, and she was fine, no problems at all. :);) |
I'm lucky, my Mom is retired so she doggie sits.:D |
kitchen area Apple stays in a 4' x 12' kitchen w/puddle pads at one end, food in the middle, and her bed and toys at the other end for 8 1/2 hrs., 5 days a week...Fortunately, I only work about 10 minutes from home...But let me tell you, it breaks my heart (and probably hers too) everytime I leave...Maybe she does better than me, but I wish I didn't have to leave her...I set my clock @ 5:30, instead of 7:30, so she has 3 1/2 hours to play and be awake, before I go to work...Then, when I get home, she plays for another 3 1/2 hrs. before bed...On my days off, it's just apple and me, all day long! You won't believe how much you will love these little angels...All the Best to You and your New Baby! Maggie & Apple :aimeeyork xoxoxo |
When I'm not here luckily someone always is. I'm in college and still live at home and commute. My mom is home with my baby sister so Jackson stays out in a gated section of the house. And I just got a job at a dog boarding place so I'll be bringing him to work with me :) |
We are kinda lucky here  Im a stay at home mom 5 days a week, working DHs days off, so He is with her when i am gone :) |
My dog is crate trained, and we've been crating her since a pup-- she likes her crate and it has worked well for us, but if you're going to do it with a young puppy, you have to be ready to make some sacrifices to make it work. Crate training works because dogs don't want to potty where they sleep, but you have to be on the ball about taking them out at appropriate intervals even if you're working! When Penny was still little, I would come home from work at lunch time and then once in the mid-afternoon when I could sneak away to take her outside for potty breaks and exercise. As she grew bigger she could go for longer periods, but even now if I am going to be at work for more than an eight hour day, I will try to duck out for a quick visit at lunch so she can go out and take care of business. If you don't work somewhere that is flexible like that, going with an x-pen might be a better option since you'd have the freedom to use wee-wee pads. |
My honey has her own room. She stays in there for about 4 hrs in the morning then i come home for hr 1/2 lunch and let her out to pee/poop and run around. then she goes back into her room for another 4-5 hours until i get home. She's fully furnished with a couch, 2 pee pads, and water. I dont give her food as i feed her in the morning time before i go to work and then after i come home. It's a pretty simple room so she doesnt get into anything nor is there anything that she can hurt herself on. So far, this has worked out for us the BEST! |
