Opinions .... haircut? 2 Attachment(s) So Jackson's hair needs brushed at least 2-3 times a day to look decent. It is constantly getting tangled especially with him being outside so much. I don't plan on growing it long at all in the first place but I'd like for it to be less maintenance and easier for him since he hates being brushed. Do you think he would look good in this kind of cut?? I'm sad to see the puppy black hair go tho! :( First pic if Jackson now, Second pic is some Yorkie from Google |
1 Attachment(s) Another one of Jackson |
Jackson is a handsome boy! Sorry, no help here, just addicted to looking at yorkies pics = ) |
FIRST...Jackson is completely ADORABLE....but I know what you mean about the brushing. My boys are not nuts about the brush so I have them cut like the pic you posted. I get them a cut in Oct (it would be earlier for you up north) then they only get a little trim in Dec...March they are back to their 'puppy' cut. |
:p Jackson is so cute! I wanna snuggle up to him. Look at all that puppy hair! I think he would look great in a cut like that. You should do it, especially since he hates being brushed. I have to brush my girl 2-3 times a day, it's that tangly puppy hair. LOL Show us pictures if you end up getting him cut. |
Thanks for the comments, guys! :) I'm just scared to see how different he will look but I'm sure he will still be cute as can be! But I do think a cut like that would just be easier especially with summer nearing!! He'd probably be a lot more comfortable. Plus, we have a pool in the backyard and if he ends up liking swimming, I do not want hair like that getting chlorine wet all the time and having to brush through it!! |
He is a cutie. I have to keep Sam's hair short because his hair mats so bad, but I do keep the hair around his head long and put it up in a scrunchie so it doesn't get into his eyes. |
Jackson is so cute any way he wears his hair, I think this cute would be great for summer. I like it very much... |
I think he would look really cute with a cut like that! |
Go for it! He will look darling in that cut! |
i kno what you mean, bailees is the same way...i am constantly brushing it...i really wanna get her short too but im sooo nervous lol.id miss that black puppy hair too, will it get more managable as the puppy hair grows out? |

I am glad I am not the only one having this problem! lol. I spent over an hour last night combing Tobie and getting all of the tangles out of his hair. He hates being brushed too but since I knew I knew I needed to get those tangles out before they got worse, I wasn't going to let him get out of it. He quickly gave up and just went to sleep. lol. Of course, after all of that hard work, after 15 minutes it looked all messy again. sigh... I really like the short puppy cut so that is how I am going to have his done but I don't think any hairstyle can make a Yorkie look ugly :) |
First let me say that Jackson is absolutely adorable!! I think he would look adorable in that cut! And it obviously would make life easier for the both of you!!:D |
When Orion first arrived here, his hair was long and it kept on getting tangled. I brushed it everyday and almost twice a day and it still got tangled. Finally I took out the scissors and gave him a trim, what a difference!! No more tangles to brush out. :p His hair is slightly longer than the pic that you posted of the yorkie you found in google. As for Cassi, I just gaver her a puppy cut last week and used a buzzer. She looks exactly like the picture from google. I would say, definitely go with the puppy cut and see how you like it. If you don't like it you can always have him grow it out. :D |
Jackson is a cutie pie. I know what you mean about getting the black cut out. When Hot Rod got his first hair cut, I don't know what I expected but he looked like a different (grown up) dog...I almost cried. Then at 6 mos he got a puppy cut (March) and I still was in shock but I love it! I just gave them both a puppy cut and I think that they are happier. I am keeping their faces long though. Maybe that could be a compromise? |
I just had Piper cut short like that a few days ago. She had hip surgery 10 weeks ago and had her hip and most of the leg shaved for the surgery. They also partially shaved both front legs for IVS and she looked like she got ran over by a lawn mower. I decided to just get her hair cut short even with the hair on her hip. When I picked her up at the groomers I have to admit I didn't reconize my baby. She is 10 months old so when all the puppy hair was shaved her adult color was revealed. Her body is now silvery which shouldn't surprise me because that was the color of her mother. Now that I'm past the initial shock, I think she's absolutely beautiful. The cut is very easy to take care of. Piper has a silky coat and everything stays tangle free. The only thing that really needs brushing is her face and head and that only takes a couple minutes once a day. |

He is a cutie! I had the same issues with Nolee. I now keep him cut in a schnauzer cut! He is adorable and no more problems with his hair! |
Its the puppy cut for us! Bailey's puppy cut is in my avatar. With this cut (every 6 weeks) I don't need to brush her at all. Good luck! |
I noticed when Bailey's puppy fur was cut off...her hair became so much more managable. She is almost a yr and both of her haircuts shocked me. If it was not for her reaction when she saw me...I would not have reconized her. It used to take an hr a day to brush her out, now it takes maybe 5 minutes and it is medium length right now. It is so much more shiny and healthy looking as well. If you cut it short, it might be easier to manage when it grows back out. If you like it short than you can keep it...if not it will always grow back. Good luck! |
