HI everyone...I have purchased my first yorkie. SHe is 3 yrs old.
What type of shampoo and conditioner do you use?
My new girls name is Megan.
She is such a JOY!

Hi Karen and Megan and Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I use Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner every week in between seeing the groomer every 6-8 weeks depending on how fast Barons hair decides to grow! He's a 15 month old blue and tan male and his hair grows really fast, It's very silky to the touch. He was 6 months old when I got him in May of 2008. I'm glad that you found our sight. Hello and welcome. I use Minksheen shampoo and Pantene conditioner. Whatever you use dont use a human shampoo. It is okay to use a human conditioner but shampoo is a different ph and will leave the hair lifeless after a while.

I've used PetSilk and it was ok, not WOW, but ok. I've tried MinkSheen and although I like it better then PetSilk, I'm still not WOW'd by it. So I'm still looking too. The MinkSheen, you can get a trial sample from by going to their website and requesting it.

Touch of Mink Exclusive Skin Care Products

The best shampoo I've found for Boo is Johnson's Baby Shampoo. And although I don't like using human shampoo, he has sort of wiry hair and so far it works the best. But I'm still looking for a good dog shampoo that will work for all 3 of my crew.

Welcome Karen and Megan.
Human shampoo is too drying for use on a dog. Use only shampoo formulated for dogs. Many human shampoos also contain chemicals that are very irritating to a dog's skin. Many dogs break out in rashes, itching, or dandruff if human shampoo is used on them. It should only be used in an emergency.

I did send off for the free bio groom to try, they had 4 samples here really quick and it smells so good. I also bought buddy groom, but, haven't tried it out yet. To the OP, go to the bio groom website, you can ask for some samples

Welcome to YT!! I would also recommend Buddy Wash & their conditioner. Our favorite product is Buddy Splash - it will make any matt or tangle so much easier to get out - www.cloudstar.com

we use "minksheen"!!!! (and "buddy wash", "buddy rinse"! along with "ice on ice" for daily brushing!!)

hi! welcome to yorkietalk! I use minksheen shampoo and 8-1 perfect coat conditioner on charlie. His fur is soft.

Hi,karen and welcome i have a three month old yorkie and my baby's name is shiver and i use johnson & johnson shampoo and it work's for me .i hope you enjoy this site i learned alot in this site i'm glad i joined.
