He thinks he's Tobie Knievel! I have started trying to keep tobie from jumping off the furniture. Well today I was cleaning so I put him in the bedroom with my hubby. He started being a whiny pants so my hubby picked him up while he was sitting in his chair. Tobie then heard me in the hall and without hesitation, trampled over my hubbys shoulder and flew off the back of the chair! I'm 5'3" and the back of the chair comes up to my chest. It gave my husband a heart attack! I just don't k ow what to do to stop this before he hurts himself |
Omg, you guys are so lucky that he didn't get hurt! Missy is a little squirmy butt like that too. She broke her leg 6 weeks ago just by pouncing off of my hand as I was setting her down on the floor. It was a 3,500 dollar surgery to fix it. Missy is just too impatient. She only jumped from *maybe* 4" off of the ground, but she landed wrong and it was enough to do serious damage. The rule in our house since Missy broke her leg is, "if she is being held off the grounds, you must have TWO hands on her at all times". The scarey part is, she never learned her lesson from breaking her leg, she STILL tries to squirm her way out of our hands. These little ones can sure jump hey? I'm glad that Tobie is OK. :) |
Thanks :) I'm just glad I didn't see it because I would have been freaking out! |

I don't know what these little dogs think they're doing leaping around like superhero's ;) |
Thats Luigi too We call him SuperDog. All he needs is his red cape. He thinks he is able to leap tall buildings. Forever jumping off furniture, but he just doesn't jump he leaps out about a foot from what hes jumping off of, if he had a cape he would seriously look like superman in dog form. Quite a few times he has jumped out of my hands and scares me to death. He squirms and wriggles like a little crazy dog to get out of my arms when someone comes downstairs or to the door, etc. I am so afraid he is going to break something.:aimeeyork |
I'm glad to see i'm not the only one with a dog that likes to leap off tall buildings!! It's insane. I even have stairs for him on the bed. You think he wants to use them? noooooooooo..why do that , when he can fly? i keep telling my husband, "Someday..he's going to cost us thousands of dollars". (sigh) |
Yes they are leapers Jumping from place to place is fun to them but I wouldn't be comfortable even for an adult Yorkie to jump from anything higher than a sofa or a bed Puppies shouldn't be allowed to jump at all There are millions of stories ... just on here about broken legs and worse |
Roxie does this too. It scares me to death and it's very hard to stop her. So far nothing has happened but who's to say it won't. Let's put capes on them and take pics for now! |
It must be the name Tobie because my Tobie does the same thing and he even flys through the air, its crazy. |

I know!! I called it the flying leap. It reminds me of those flying squirrels. lol. My husband was like, "could you imagine having more than one of him. All you would see constantly is flying Yorkies." lol. I looks funny but it scares the heck out of me. I agree it's hard to stop them a lot of the time. |
Riley does this too! My husband just commented today that Riley looks like a race horse jumping a hurdle when he flies off the bed and other things. He even jumped off our deck last week which is about 4 feet off the ground. He weighs 3 lbs. and is almost 5 months old. He scares me to death all the time. He can get onto every piece of furniture in the house except our bed and he jumps off of everything. He can also run like the wind. I never thought I would have to run to keep up with a yorkie when we are walking. It's amazing!! I've been concerned about him jumping off and on stuff, but there is no stopping him, especially when we aren't home. When we leave and come back, he's always on the couch, like he owns it. Do anybody elses puppies do this without harming themselves? He seems to be really good at it. We have been discouraging him, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all, but I can't bear the thought of him getting hurt! (He just jumped onto the couch as I'm typing! lol) My husband said he was going to try and get an action shot of him doing a jump. I'll try to post it if he's successful. Let me know where I can find a cape for him.;) |
That would be a great picture. I can see it in my head...suspended in the air with the legs all spread out. LOL. Def post that pic if he gets it. |
Oops. Double post |

Maci does that too!!!Scares the heck out of me! She will "fly" half way across the room then land and sometimes even roll... just yesterday she figured out she is big enough and she can jump up on the couch all by herself......I don't know what I am going to do with her!!! |
