Welcome Home Bailey We made a 5 hour drive to pick up our little baby girl today. She is 12 weeks old and cute as can be! My BF and I named her Bailey :) She had 2 small accident of car sickness on the way home, but only a minor spit up. Other than that she cuddle with me the hole drive home. To cute!! It was nice we got the meet the breeder and see the yorkie parents which are just adorable along with the other little brothers and sisters Bailey has. We got home and she ate a little bit but won't drink water and has been sleeping for a while. I hope she will be fine tomorrow. I think it is just from the long drive home and the car sickness that made her exhausted. I will try to post pictures if i can figure it out (not smart in computers...lol) |
Congrats on your new puppy! Bailey is such a cute name!:p when I first got Mia she would not drink water for 2 days, I ended up just putting my fingers in the bowl and swirling the water around to show her there was something in the bowl and she caught on after that! Yorkies are SO smart!! :D:D |
That is soo exciting! I can't wait to see pictures!! |
WELCOME!!! That sounds like our trip to get Layla- but it was 9 hours! She will be very tired from the day- I couldn't even get Layla to eat the first day so you are doing well :D Hope your first night goes well- which it probably will because she is so tired- it's the next night you gotta be ready for :) Welcome again- can't wait to see pictures! |
welcome to yt and congratulations to you and bailey. When Madison came home(20 min drive) she didn't go potty for like 8 hours. which wigged me out. got her home at 4 pm and didn't pee til midnight. then didn't pee again till 8 pm. she had a vet check up at 5pm and I told the vet she hadn't peed in 17 hours. I was panicking big time! The vet wasn't too worried about it. Madison hadn't eaten or drank much during that time. she said it was 'normal' and she'd probably eat and drink by morning. the vet was right she peed later that evening and all has been well ever since. They need that adjustment period I guess. |
2 Attachment(s) Here are a few pictures of Bailey. She finaly found her water bowl and has been drinking a bit. I don't know why she has to go to the bathroom so much when she barely eats or drink but she constantly need to go and it is hard keeping up with her trying to bring her outside since we have to go up a set of stairs....lol has anybody used the pee pads?? Do they work good or does it stink up the room? let me know :) |
Bailey is such a little doll! I love the pic of her in your pink hat. Pee pads are sooooo convenient. I don't think that I'll ever switch Missy to going outside or maybe just do a combination of both if she likes. What I do with my girl is set up an ex-pen with her crate, peepads, and food/water. I didn't give her too much space in the beginning and she grasped the concept of using the pads right away. Now I've expanded her cage to full size and she still gets it. I had gotten to the point of giving her free reign of the house (leaving the ex-pen door open) and she was still consistantly using her pads. Now she broke her leg and has to be confined so she's back in the ex-pen. Ex-pens and pee pads are super handy though. I don't find them stinky at all. I pick up the poops immediately and the pee gets absorbed into the pad. |
COngradulations!:D Little Bailey looks like a little sweetheart :aimeeyork your going to have so much fun being new parents. |
Congratulations on your adorable Bailey . |
What a little sweetheart! You will have such fun. I used pee pads for a while and still leave one out "just in case" and do not find that they smell. I do pick up the poop right away and flush like the other poster. That would probably get a little on the stinky side. |
Simply adorable!!! Congrats on baby Bailey! |
Welcome to YT! Bailey is adorable :) I also have a little female we brought home in Jan. and since she is so tiny and it was sooooo cold outside when we brought her home we use pee pads with her. My two year old male is outside trained, and she will be too eventually. We have a fenced in back yard so its super convenient. What we did with Lorelei training her to use pee pads every time she ate or drank we put her on the pad. She would try to walk off and we would just calmly put her back on the pad. When she would use it we would praise her and give her a training treat. Yorkie babies have very small bladders, so every two to three hours we would put her on the pad just to see if she had to go. They learn very quickly that the pee pad is the place they should potty. Most pee pads have a scent on them that makes furbabies want to potty there. We have never had trouble with one being smelly but we change them pretty often as they aren't really that expensive and Lorelei is finicky if she has used it too many times she looks at us like "Ew gross Mommy its dirty, please give me a clean one" lol Good luck with her training and congrats on the addition to your family! |
lilMissy thank you for your advice. I am not quite sure what is a "ex-pen" , I am still learning on my english. But i have Bailey in a huge dog kennel (made for really big dogs) and that is were she is when i leave the house so she doesnt leave me any surprises when i get home..lol. Are you saying i should put a pee pad in there with her?? |
I have a kid's playpen I bought for Mia she is only 9wks old today, and me and my bf work full time so this come's in handy...I put a pee pad at one end of the playpen with food and water and then a couple blankets on the other side a couple of chew toys and one small stuffed toy that has the "scent" of her litter mates on it so I think this makes her more comfortable.. I recommend leaving a pee pad out at all times.. Your puppy may not get the idea of going potty on this at first but it takes time you just have to be consistent and keep putting Bailey on the pad, I dont know if you have a Target near you but I purchase mine from there because the have adhesive strips on the bottom of the pad and this ensures the pad from sliding across the room! good luck!!! :) |
Congrats on Bailey!!!!!:congrats: I tried the pee pads in the living room by the back door for my little one when we first got her and she tore them up. I think the only time she used it was when she had to go in her cage at night but otherwise she was VERY easy to potty train.. Good luck!!!!! |
Very Very Cute Little Bailey |
