Ears?? Do all yorkie ears stand up because my Maya is 3 months old and hers dont. I was just wondering if this was normal...if they stay floppy thats ok 2 because she looks so cute!!! Thx all!! |
my little girl has floppy ears, I think she it is adorable but I think the standard is to be standing. Not much help, I've heard about people taping them so they stand up, not sure if it works... |
Yep, the ears are suppose to stand up but.........your little one is so so cute, floppy ears and all!!!!:D |
The standard is for ears up and yes taping will do the trick but more around 4 to 20 weeks. I do think they look really cute with there years down too.. Teddy was so cute with his hear down, my boyfriend insisted to keep it this way. It give him a teddy bear look!:p |
Curly's ears are floppy but seem to wanna stand up lately. The ends still fold over but the lower ear is going up. I love the floppy ears though. |
Yes the ears are supposed to stand. Reduce the weight by shaving a third of the way down and keep the edges trimmed. Usually that's all it takes to get them to pop up. |
Precious is 2 1/2 yrs old & has floppy ears, but I think she is cute just the way she is;) |
Some stay floppy. :) I kind of wanted Jackson's to stay floppy but they stood up @ 4 months or so. And he looks so cute! |
Alex is 11 weeks and his ear stand up but flop half way I think it is to cute! Your baby is precious! Hugs |
Thanks for all the posts....well if they stay floppy thats fine with me. Taping the ears sounds kinda annoying for the dog....I put a bow in her hair a couple of weeks ago and that lasted about 5 seconds before she pulled it out....I figure when she is older I will try the bow again. |
I did a triangular cut-out and attached the masking tape to that instead of the inside skin of her ears. All I had to do was loosely tape them on and around the back of her ears. She never even scratched it and her ears got to breathe as I can see the space between the skin and the triangle (which I also wrapped with tape to fortify it and make it more peel friendly for reuse/retaping. I cut triangles out of reasonably sturdy business cards and/or waxed over cd/dvd case cover label/cards. For a while, I had also used a longer piece of tape to hold the 2 ears together (not pulled against each other but standing exactly vertically on head like they do now on their own) in a more upright position in case it weighed down off to the side so that each ear was able to provide support for the other. It worked great for me as I was concerned about rolling their ears into a cone and taping directly as I knew I wouldn't do it correctly. Of course, the hairs on the back/front were kept trimmed. |
