 How much do these little ones weigh? It seems like they would be smaller so they could all fit in there. What size is your momma? |
I'm sorry that you lost 3! I hope mom & the other babies are doing good! Never heard of that many babies before. How big is mama? |
That's a lot 12 puppys for one momy !!! What is the weight for the mom? I had in January a litter from 6 and the last one stayed too much inside,so she was dead when she camed out.All the puppys are nice, today they haveing 2 months ( 1 male and 4 females). |
How are momma and babies? When was her due date? I hope they were not premature. I have a litter of seven that will be 2 weeks old on Monday. I can't imagine a momma having that many puppies. I pray they are doing well. |
Update! Whew, what a crazy last 36 hours! The little female passed this morning. The sadness mixed with the joy of the last 2 days has really gotten to me. I will be taking pictures tomorrow and posting them for everyone. : ) Hillary is doing great, has loads of milk and is eating like a champ. :) The surviving 8 babies are doing great as well! They are all full and active! I am so happy, I can't bear to lose another one. Anyway, for those of you who are curious, Hillary is about 11 pounds (big to be breeding, but she had a litter of pups last year that were so cute and so little and just perfect - they grew up to be about 5 and 6 pounds (same Sire this time, he's 6 1/2 pounds). She was about 57 - 59 days along when she whelped, so she carried them basically to term, though the little would have probably survived if she had been delivered about a week later. Not sure about their weights yet - I have been so busy just trying to maintain that I haven;t even thought about weighing them. But, after a good night's sleep I will weigh them tomorrow - best guess isa range between 2 and 6 ounces from the littlest to biggest. |
Update 3 Attachment(s) Here are some pics of the babies (8 of them - 2 boys and 6 girls). Hillary already has them on a schedule so that they aren't all eating at the same time! It is amazing, she piles them all up beside her and pulls a few over to eat, and then lets them sleep a while, then she switches them with another "group" - it is wonderful how well she is taking care of them! When they were all first born and trying to nurse at the same time, you should have seen it! it was like a sea of wriggling bodies in front of her belly! |
OMG, they are so cute. I just cant wait till they are running all over the place..Please send pics about once a week so we can watch them grow... |
Aww...I am so sorry for another lose, I can't imagine what rollercoaster of emotions that you much be feeling. But the pictures are soo cute and i am happy to hear the Hillary and the rest of the puppies are doing good! |
Just look at those babies!!! So cute...Sure sounds like mom/Hillary has it all under control. That is amazing!!! |

I will definately do that! I take pictures of the puppies once a week for my own records anyway, so all I'll have to do is upload them. : ) |
Pups 1 Attachment(s) When I first had pups we were so inexperienced. I went to vet and had an ultrasound done. The vet said 4 pups...wow after we cleanned everything up we had another three. Oh so small but they all made it with help from me feeding them extra feedings of puppy milk for about one week. |
They are so precious. Thank you so much for sharing those pics. Loved them! |
Update Just a little update - babies and momma are doing just splendid! Hillary is doing such a great job with the puppies! I am so proud of her. She has a hard time cleaning up after all of them, but God love her for trying so hard (I of course help, haha). The only weird thing she does is, when I give her formula mixed with food (twice a day to help keep her energy and milk up), she likes to push the bowl with her nose and knock it over then lick it up - which would be fine except she gets the puppies all wet. So, I have resolved myself to holding the bowl up to her face while she's letting the babies nurse and letting her lap up the "soup" while I hold tight to the bowl. Haha, it's a little frustrating, but I guess just one of those things a surrogate mother has to do sometimes. : ) |
Congratulations to Hillary and to you on the 8 healthy and very cute puppies!! They're all so tiny!! Hillary seems like the PERFECT MOMMY!! I am so sorry for the loss of the 4 little ones!! My German Shep. was 1 of 14 from a first litter, the father was 160 lbs. and the mom was 60 lbs. But, 12 Yorkies @ one time is something else all together!! Thanks so much for sharing the pics, they all are real Cuties...Blessings to all... :congrats::tinyheart:2hearts2::goodluck::hands: |
