Strange Behavior...anyone know what it "means"? Max will put a bone, yam, or something like that on his dog bed. The he will like drag his nose on the bed & around it like he is covering it? He will do this fo a few minutes and then either eat it or walk away. WEIRD! Does he think he is burrying it? Marking it somehow? |
My Sadie did this A LOT too. It appeared to me that she was 'burrying' it. I don't know why they do it, but I think it's such a cute thing. :) |
They think their slobbered up bone is as desireable to YOU as it is to THEM...so, yes, they're hiding it! Don't try to reason with them...it's futile!;) |
I think they are saving it for a rainy day.;) |
My Parents little dog does the same thing with her kibbles (she eats in her crate) she tries to bury the entire bowl! |
LOL aren't they just the cutest. Buddy will prance around at times with a treat in his mouth whineing:confused: doing that fishtail thing with his butt. I tell him he's suppose to be happy with a treat not moaning. Can't figure that one out either. |
It is SO CUTE when he does it. I love it. It just Looks strange. I try not to laugh because I do not want to hurt his feelings-LOL But is ALWAYS makes me smile. It is like "What are you doing you silly pup". :D |
Yep, they're "burying" it. Marcel is HUGE on burying - OMG, he will bury forEVER, and by the end of it, his face-fur is just a hot mess - fur everywhere. And there the bone is, in full plain site - but he is SURE he's done his job. He then picks it up in a few minutes, and then the entire process starts all over. :p |
One time Clarence had a teeny Beanie Baby outside. He was playing & playing so Kevin starts playing with him....well I guess C got tired so he dug a shallow grave put Lamby in it, belly up, & scraped about a tablespoon of dirt on top of it. We cracked up! Kevin said...Um Clarence, dude!, I can SEE Lamby. Clarence didn't care he was SURE Lamby was secure. We STILL laugh about that & it was over 10 years ago. |
This is so cute, I've never noticed another dog I've had doing this, but he goes around in a circle, and taps the bone with his nose, and back-ups and pushes pretend dirt on the bone going all around the circle, once he's done, he takes the bone to find a new spot to "bury" it. |
Haha Alfie does this a lot, once he has it 'Buried safe' Lottie runs up and eats it!!!LOL |

I turned off the lights and could here him eating in the dark..so yes after all these posts I wouldv say it NORMAL |
Our little Casey used to do the "nose nudge thing" before she would eat. We were always afraid she would rub her nose raw. Teddy will take some of his bones and try to hide them behind the curtains or in between the cushions of the couch. When we first brought him home, he took one of his stuffed toys outside and buried it in the pile of leaves in the corner of our fence. |
