HELLO I did it I have been hanging around for about a month now and felt like I was missing out on alot. I'm excited about joining and look forward talking to all of you and learning more about my baby. I have a little boy name Sam and he is a mess but I still love him and wouldn't have him any other way. I really think he is a good puppy. Sam is 5 1/2 months old. I'm not sure how to work all this yet so maybe this is going through, if not I will work it out shortly. I have a question already: Sam is getting neutered tomorrow and the vet is wanting to keep him over nite. I'm not saying his is a bad thing, but I know that I will be home at nite and I'm not sure if they will have anyone there to look after him. What do you think? Thanks |
I don't really understand why he would need to be kept overnight. I am no expert, but I have had many animals fixed and I have never heard of them needing to be kept. Did you ask them why he wants him over night? |
Hi, and welcome!:) When Snoopy was fixed they didn't keep him overnight. I would check to make sure someone will be there. If not, I would want him home! |
Welcome to YT!! :) |
Welcome! I would call and ask if anyones going to be there at night. If not I would tell them that you want to take him home. I brought my male and female home the day of their surgery. |
Welcome to YT!!!! Hope Sam does fine with surgery. My mom just had her male fixed, he did great! He came home the same day of surgery also. :wavey::welcome4: |
Thanks for all the warm welcome. I'm not sure on the replies, I hope to get better at this. I'm like ya'll, if know one is going to be there; then I think he should come home with me. Thanks |
Im pretty new here to. My baby is 15 weeks. Welcome :) |
Yay Welcome to YT!! When we got Juicy fixed she was able to come home so I dont really know why they want to keep him, but I would def make sure there is going to be someone there to watch him. |
When Tobie got neutered they said that they like to keep them over night for observation but no one would be there at night unless they had to be so I went ahead and pick him up around 4:30 I could not wait until 5. And he was fine just out of it for a day. |
when molly was spayed, she went to the vets at 9am and came home the same day at 4pm. |

I used to work for a vet who would keep them overnight-- he lived only a couple of blocks from the hospital, and he would go back himself in the early evening and then again in the middle of the night to check on animals that had surgery that day. He was an excellent vet and a very good surgeon, and this was how he had always done it for 30 years. The place I work now sends neuters home the same day. I will say that we get a lot more calls from worried owners than the other place used to-- the first night after a major surgery, some dogs are quite disoriented from the anesthesia and can sometimes be very vocal, and that can cause owners to get really very worried even if the dog is doing fine. I can honestly see reasons for doing it either way, but I wouldn't want to leave my dog overnight after a surgery unless somebody was going to check in on her. |
:wave4: Hi! Welcome to YT! I wouldn't be leaving my baby overnight unless there was a REAL good reason. :) |
:wavey: Welcome to YT. When I had my girl spayed she went in at 8:00 in the morning and was ready to come home at 4:00 in the afternoon. I would prefer to have my baby with me and they would be more comfortable in a familiar enviroment. Plus they are normally very groggy/sleepy the night of their surgery.... |
